Recognized as the linchpin of modern economies, the energy industry provides essential resources critical for industrial processes, transportation, and the overall functioning of society. Amid the global transition towards sustainable practices, the importance of not only advancing technological innovation but also enhancing human capital in this sector is increasingly acknowledged, especially in the light of the shift towards green and renewable energy alternatives. Employing a bibliometric approach, this study analyzes a collection of 1933 documents, encompassing research articles, conference papers, and book chapters, indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database. Through a network cluster analysis of the textual and bibliometric data using the VOSViewer software, our findings suggest that investments in human capital are deemed crucial for fostering long-term sustainable economic growth within energy companies globally. Furthermore, the significance of human capital in the energy sector is observed to be escalating in prominence among researchers and academics, both within Russia and internationally. This growing interest underscores the vital role that skilled, knowledgeable, and innovative human resources play in navigating and driving the energy sector towards a more sustainable and renewable future

This topic is also very relevant for the Russian energy market that is otherwise dominated by oil and gas. The Russian Ministry of Energy forecasts that local power plants running on the renewable energy sources (RES) may not become economically efficient until 2025 or later. However, a research question arises: Is it possible to effectively implement RES projects in Russia without any state support? In order to answer this question, the authors need to assess the economic feasibility of seven scenarios for the construction of a solar power plant in the Orenburg region of Russia. The methodological basis of this work is the widely used in the energy sector classic method of investment analysis based on the calculation of discounted indicators: net present value (NPV), payback period (DPP) and internal rate of return (IRR) of the project. All our ...

A distinctive feature of this method is the use of the equipment’s technical condition index as an informative parameter. The results of calculating and visualizing the technical condition index in relation to the electro-hydraulic automatic control system of hydropower turbine when predicting the defect “clogging of drainage channels” showed that its determination both for an equipment and for a group of its functional units allows one to quickly and with the required accuracy assess the arising technological disturbances in the operation of power equipment. In order to predict the behavior of the technical condition index of the automatic control system of the turbine, the optimal tuning of the LSTM model of the recurrent neural network was ...

This modernization can be seen as an effective means for promoting decarbonization and energy-saving initiatives. Our methods include a comprehensive overview of the development of the energy sector in Russia, which is distinguished by the high concentration of state-owned enterprises, the absence of clear market mechanisms, as well as the domination of the fossil fuels represented by natural gas and oil. Furthermore, we present the perspectives of developing the renewable energy technologies in Russia. Our results enable us to create an in-depth analysis of the perspectives of modernization of the Russian energy sector and to draw the key connotations for its further development. Moreover, the outcomes of this paper can provide useful policy implications and guidelines for modernizing energy efficiency and energy systems for Russian stakeholder...

The harmony and stability in rural areas are the fundamental guarantees of rural sustainable economic growth and farmers’ prosperity, and they rely on effective rural governance. Taking the Fu’an City in Fujian Province of China as an example, this paper analyzes the rural governance problems arising from the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy with the method of dynamic games with incomplete information after data collection by on-the-spot investigation and file inquiry, etc. The results show that the “solicitation” behavior of village B to increase its own income does not maximize the income of village B and village N; Even under the optimal state of income distribution is derived through the game model, the income distribution between the two villages is still unfair to village N, the investor of the “Waterlands Resort”. Over the past few decades, both the United Kingdom and the United States (as well as other English-speaking countries such as Australia, Canada, and New Zealand) have in fact profiled themselves as magnets for international students at both K-12 and higher education levels, with top schools and universities relying heavily upon pupils and scholars from overseas and making them a part of their business model (Sá & Sabzalieva, 2018). Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than five million students had crossed the border of the United States for higher education, and this is the dominant basis for the discourse on mobility.

Due to technological advancements, decisions about suitable alternative fuel vehicles are a challenging problem for fleet operators. This paper aims to introduce a multi-attribute decision-analysis framework to rank and select the “alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs)” for a private home healthcare service provider in Chandigarh, India. The selection of AFVs can be treated as a decision-making problem, because of the presence of various qualitative and quantitative attributes. Thus, the current work introduces an integrated decision-making framework based on intuitionistic fuzzy-“method based on the removal effects of criteria (MEREC)”, “ranking sum (RS)”, and the “double normalization-based multi-aggregation (DNMA)” framework for assessing the AFVs. Religion might imply formal affiliation with a certain confession or active church attendance, but it might also become a determinant of taxation preferences. We employ ordinal regression analyses to study direct and mediation effects of both church affiliation and church attendance on a representative sample from the Czech Republic (n = 1924, 54.8% female, aged 18–95, M ± SD: 52.0 ± 16.9; 19.4% with higher education) controlling for employment status, social class and socio-demographics. The results suggest that neither church affiliation nor church attendance were related to desired income tax progressivity; social class plaid the most important role. The frequency of church attendance was significantly related to the perceived adequacy of taxation of higher incomes, where the more respondents attended th...

We argue that setup to fail syndrome can be caused both by the lack of motivation and skills on the employee's side but also by the lack of critical leadership skills on the side of the manager. In addition, the paper tackles the problem of micromanagement in business companies or public institutions. We show that micromanaging employees might become one of the leading factors for poor performance and failure. We conclude that a successful manager should learn how to steer her or his subordinates and develop effective leadership skills in order to become a trusted leader instead of a bullying and controlling boss. It is apparent that it takes time and effort to build such skills as communication and team collaboration, but many examples show that they can be acquired. Becoming a critical leader, not a micromanager, would considerably contribute to enhancing the quality of work and interactions at any workplace.

Specifically, it wants to show that the energy research is not a solely engineering or natural sciences field and how it can be done in social sciences. The paper draws some relevant examples including energy research in literature and poetry, history, religion, art, as well in other social sciences and humanities. In general, it becomes apparent that energy research can boast vast depths and angles that are worth exploring for any social scientist. Given the key importance of energy research in the third decade of the 21st century and the worldwide focus on the renewable energy sources, electrification of transport and heating in the face of the threatening global warming and climate change, it seems relevant to focus on researching the perspectives and paradigms for the traditional and renewable energy sources in the 21st century using the toolbox of the social sciences.

Methods: In our analysis, we use the institutional framework that makes it easy understand and model the incentives of the wrestlers using the readily available data. Our data set consists of official judo matches that took place during the Paralympic Games from Seoul in 1988 to Rio in 2016. We analyze the distribution of wins across judokas, the medal count at the end of each medal tournaments. Results: Our results are quite similar across specifications. There is no significant evidence to prove that some Paralympic judokas tend to be victorious more often on average than it might be expected. Conclusions: We find no evidence can be found to document match rigging in Paralympic judo wrestling. Our analysis does not confirm the corruption story or rule out effort as the explanation. While the incentive structure of promotion leads to gains from trade between wrestlers on the margin for achieving a winning record and their opponents in some other sports with athletes winning a disproportionate share of the matches when they are on the margin, this does not seem to be the case of Paralympic judo. Reciprocity agreements between Paralympic judo teams from different countries are unlikely to exist, suggesting that collusive behavior is carried out solely by individual actors.

Moreover, we attempt to determine how these threats are perceived by the inhabitants of those cities. Urban energy networks tend to play an increasing role in achieving energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in large urban centers. Even though they do not necessarily correspond to reality, public opinions can substantially influence the adoption of relevant technologies in populous urban locations. We use the public opinion representative survey data from the Czech Republic (a sample of 1023 respondents) in order to show how people perceive the dangers and threats for urban energy networks from such events as: (i) Extensive and long-term power outage; (ii) service disruption of the Internet, mobile networks or telephone landlines; (iii) cyber-attacks, and (iv) the technological dependence of the state on multinati...
