The tourism industry of India is growing at a good rate and is showing the impressive growth rate... more The tourism industry of India is growing at a good rate and is showing the impressive growth rate year over year. As per the Indian Tourism Industry statistics at a glance, the number of foreign tourist's arrival in India stood at 8.80 million showing a growth rate of 9.7% and the national departures from India stood at 21.87 million with an annual growth rate of 7.3%. The domestic tourists have also shown the growth rate of 14%. In order to maintain or accelerate the growth rate of tourism industry, it is very important to understand the perception of investors towards various determinants of service quality. Therefore, this paper has made an attempt to do the comparative analysis of perception of tourists towards various determinants service quality of Tourism Industry between the state of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The purpose of this research was to gain an insight into students’ perception about the service q... more The purpose of this research was to gain an insight into students’ perception about the service quality of private colleges in Kashmir Division. Just like other service sectors educational sector is also evaluated for the quality of service offered. This paper is aimed to discuss the perception of quality of service of students in colleges of private colleges in Kashmir Division and willingness to put more efforts to improve it. It considers five dimensions of service quality (SERVQUAL model) given by Parasuraman et al. (1988), i.e. assurance, empathy, reliability, tangibility and responsiveness. Findings show that there is significant degree of optimism towards dimensions of service quality i.e. Reliability, Assurance Responsiveness and Empathy but while considering Tangibility variable, it was having an insignificant relation with student contentment. This study is based upon the previous survey conducted during 2012-13 in Shahdra Shrif Shrine Raj... more This study is based upon the previous survey conducted during 2012-13 in Shahdra Shrif Shrine Rajouri from the visitors who visited Shahdra Shrief Shrine. This is a exploratory study, which focused to explore visitors perception to visit to places other than Shahda Shrif Rajouri. Accordingly survey is conducted through structured questionnaire from selected sample of 734 visitors. Data is tabulated and analyzed in SPSS using very simple statistical techniques for understanding of general audience.

Many authors contributed a lot in defining the terms “Pilgrimage” and “Tourism”. Some argued that these are one and same things, other said that these two are different entities. Another school of thought said that though these are different entities on the basis of their nature but these are similar on many aspects, so cannot be distinguished clearly. Therefore, it can be assumed that pilgrimage and tourism are the two sides of the same coin. This study is purposely undertaken for demographic profiling of pilgrims visited to Shahdra Shrief Shrine. Shahdra Shrief is the holy Shrine of great saint Baba Ghulam Ali Shah Badshah (RA), which is situated in the Hills of District Rajouri of State Jammu and Kashmir in India.
