Nathaniel J . P . Barron | University of Birmingham (original) (raw)

I received a PhD in 2018. My thesis deals with the question of language in Ernst Bloch's speculative materialism. My examiners were: Dr. Daniel Whistler (Royal Holloway, University of London), and Dr. Peter Lucas (University of Central Lancashire).

I have taught on a range of philosophy courses at Richmond & Hillcroft Adult Community College: Ancient Greek Philosophy, Political Philosophy, and Philosophies of the Enlightenment (Access to Humanities). I have also taught and led on adult education courses in the Introduction to Comparative Religion and the Philosophy of Religion.

I have recently taken up post as a Teaching Associate in Sociology for the University of Birmingham. There I will be teaching modules in 'The Sociological Imagination', 'Modern Sociological Theory', 'Contemporary Social Theory', and 'Introduction to Social Divisions'.

I am preparing a chapter for a forthcoming publication with Routledge: "Anticipation, Creativity and Design". I am also editing my PhD thesis for publication with Brill as part of its Ernst Bloch Series: https://brill.com/page/blb

From 1 September 2019 to 31 May 2020 I will be a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Modern Languages Research, School of Advanced Studies, University of London.
