occupational stress) experienced by the educators of technical education ( here if we say technical education it
simply refers to the courses such as engineering , management & other allied fields). The sample comprised of
80 respondents who were associated with such kind of institutes & were selected according to the convenience
of the researcher. Out of these only 72 were considered for the study as rests were unfit for evaluation. For
the purpose of study structured questionnaire developed by Udai Pareek was considered which include 10
different dimensions of role stress. Statistical tests including mean, t- test, independent sample t-test & Anova
were applied to fulfill the various objectives of the study. The findings suggest that there is a difference between
different role stressors based on gender & age.

Job satisfaction and motivation are very essential for the continuing growth of organisation
across the world along with the educational systems. They rank alongside professional
knowledge and skills, centre competencies, educational resources as well as strategies, in
genuinely determining educational success and performance. Banaras Hindu University is
one of the reputed educational institutions. For any institution of this kind there are two sets
of employees viz. primary staff (comprising of the persons directly linked with the fulfilment
of the basic objective of the establishment) & support staff (comprising of the persons who
directly or indirectly are required for the efficient functioning of overall system). The crucial
role of this non teaching staff prompts the researcher to know the status of satisfaction &
motivation among them. This study tries to assess the differences & relationship between the
level of job satisfaction & motivation among non teaching staff of Banaras Hindu University
(BHU), Varanasi. Research is exploratory as well as descriptive in nature. The opinion of the
non teaching staff was collected with the help of questionnaire which measured the two
aspects as discussed earlier. The data for the study was analysed using multiple statistical
procedures: mean point value, standard deviation, and variance, t-test of significance and
One-way-analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings suggest that there is difference in
satisfaction & motivation on factors such as age, experience& education. However there is no
difference between the two on the basis of organisational position.
