This piece makes an excellent use of the light and tone of the room. If it wast for the one panel in the upper right, I would think this picture was taken with black and white film. Although the use of full-body suits to eliminate identity and individuality in a model is not unique, it is still used very effectively here, especially in concert with the black floor and walls to have the models blend into the scene while the highlights pull them back out.
The artist has made a good choice with his black suits in that he's chosen a matte fabric which reflects little light. This not only helps the models blend with the scene, it removes the erotic connection that this type of suit is usually associated with. Unfortunately, that connection is still maintained a bit by the presence of the ultra-high platform shoes.
The poses are especially interesting. The figures seem to be caught waiting for something, who knows what. The posture of each model communicates a different 'stage' of waiting. The model on the right appears to have been there only a short time, still enthusiastic about what's to occur, but beginning to feel the time pass. The model on the left has an air of impatience, annoyed that things are taking so long. Frustration and despair define the center model, who seems to have given up on what they are waiting for, but is not yet able to bring himself to leave.
All in all, this is a moving piece and very well composed. My only questions would be whether or not it was a choice to leave that small amount of color in the shot and if the shoes were totally necessary.
