Purpose

The Municipal Services Electrician inspects, installs, services, repairs and maintains electrical equipment for the City of Milwaukee's street lighting, traffic control, water and sewer instrumentation, communication network systems, buildings, and facilities.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Four years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical services and equipment.
  2. Valid driver's license at time of application, throughout the selection process and throughout employment.
  3. A good driving record at time of application, throughout the selection process, and throughout employment.
  4. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) A, B, and C covering general, air brakes, and combination sections within six months of appointment and throughout employment.

Current Salary

The current salary range (Pay Range 7LN) is $92,987-$120,936and the resident incentive starting annual salary for the City of Milwaukee residents is $95,777-$124,564. Appointment above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.

Selection Process

THE SELECTION PROCESS will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: an evaluation of education, experience and/or responses to supplemental questions; a written or performance test, a structured interview, or other assessment methods. The Department of Employee Relations reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to structured interviews and performance examinations. Structured interviews may include written exercises. Selection process component weights will be determined by further analysis of the job.
