In order to achieve the same film cooling was employed injecting cold air into the bulk fluid boundary layer. The cool air spreads over the blade material surface and isolates the surface from getting excessive heated. Although a volume of work has been already done on the same but under static condition but in practice since the blade would be rotating with certain speed hence it was required to study the cooling effectiveness under dynamic situation. Simulation study was done providing a rotation at two different rpm and it was observed that with backward injection of cooling air, cooling effectiveness, corelated in terms of area covered was much better than the forward one. It also indicated that the effectiveness decreases with increase in rpm as the time availab...

With the industrial concern over sustainability of resources and efficiency in operation in a digital environment, the need arises to implement digital technologies in the educational setting so that digital competence of the future workforce can be elevated, and better industrial output-based education is provided. In this chapter, an attempt has been made to describe and discuss the current scenario of digital integration in higher educational disciplines. The issues concerning this integration include teacher inability to incorporate digital thinking into student learning, student non-adaptability to modern technologies, unreliability of digital educational resources, and lack of infrastructure/power supply in most of the educational institutes. An active digital learning approach in students and extensive training sessions for digital utilization excellence in teache...

The integrated system combines the beneficial aspects of computer-aided design, computer-aided engineering, rapid prototyping, and rapid tooling. The proposed integrated system is an attempt to compress the product development time while saving cost. The system can be efficient in designing of mold, parts with complex ducts and cavities, and carrying out design analysis through optimization and simulations. The system is therefore an attempt to minimize the waste of material that occurs in the development of a product and is therefore an efficient green technology for the manufacturing industries.

There has been a shift from agrarian economy to the industrial economy. This transformation has led to increased energy consumption in tandem with the emissions associated with it. Thus, the energy consumption has led to environmental concerns. Therefore, the planning and modeling of energy resources has become critical to economic growth and should be efficiently done for securing the health of the environment as well. Looking at the importance of modeling and planning, the present chapter is an attempt to explore the fuzzy based models used for the renewable systems and in particular the wind energy systems. It has been found that the fuzzy based models have been used extensively for installation of wind farms, for optimization of the parameters related to wind systems and for the site selection of the different wind energy farms.

The debris produced in demolition of these structures are in large amount and disposal of this waste in sustainable manner is the biggest challenge being faced today and should be considered as a resource. With the increasing waste production and public concerns regarding the environment, it is desirable to recycle these materials. If suitably processed in appropriate industrial plants, these materials can be profitably used in concrete. This chapter highlights the composition of construction and demolition waste, the necessity for its recycling, and possibilities that can be implemented for its resourceful use, further focusing on current trends in this field by elaborating various ways to use these waste from laboratory research scale to commercially available technologies around the globe. The chapter concludes with future ...

It is a capable of machining geometrically complex or hard material components that are precise and difficult-to-machine such as heat-treated tool steels, composites, super alloys, ceramics, carbides, heat resistant steels, etc. being widely used in die and mold making industries, aerospace, aeronautics, and nuclear industries. This chapter highlights the programming for machining in electrical discharge machine.

One such disability which should be taken into account is related to human gait. Polio patients mainly suffer from this kind of disability due to which their muscles get weakened and they are unable to walk properly. The handicapped patients require an appliance with the help of which they can walk without any difficulties and the appliance acts as an aid for the correct positioning of their joints. Presently Aluminum Alloy based calipers are used but still the patients urge for better comfort. The requirement apart from more strength and stiffness, durability at lesser cost, environment friendly and light weight. Composite material is one such material which provides lower weight to volume ratio, high strength and stiffness at lesser cost. The purpose of the authors is to compare the mechanical properties of presently used aluminum calipers with polymeric thermoset based matrix (Carbon cloth with epoxy) based on CAD tools. The...

Modelling is a common technique which facilitates incorporation of analytical and experimentally derived equations to visualize the process and analyses the mechanism. It saves time and machining factors can be optimized without any trial and error method. In this paper, the significance of slip line field model over other constitutive laws in defining the complex regions in machining are thoroughly reviewed and a slip line field model is chosen which incorporates build up edge (BUE) of a larger size than the other previously defined slip line models for machining. The modified model also incorporate a region of shear zone instead of a shear line, takes into account the chip curl effect and conform to the velocity discontinuity and stress equilibrium. The slip line fields are generated using MATLAB and employing Dewhu...
