Kyokumen.jp and it’s use within our site. – ShogiShack Blog (original) (raw)

Recently I added a reference to Kyokumen.jp a.k.a. KyokumenPedia(局面ペディア) in the resource section of our site. The site name is coined after Kyokumen(局面) (board situation or position) and Encyclopedia. The site is maintained by the same people who runs 81dojo.com.
To take a full advantage of the site, I added buttons to our site pages that shows opening strategies. Now any board situation can be used to summon this search functionality by clicking those buttons. The site searches the identical board positions from several shogi databases and if found, present you with existing game information and other metrics. The site is in Japanese. Please see this page on how you can interpret these pages.
Currently Search Kyokumen.jp button is available in the following pages.
- Opening Showcase – individual pages.
- Book Openings Collection
- Study room -Opening Study – individual pages
- First moves -summary
- Opening used in Shogi Software
- Shogi Maze
I also have changed the behavior of the site’s shogi-board display where clicking on the copy icon will copy the board position to computer system’s clipboard as SFEN string. Right-clicking on the icon will capture the board image in png format. It was the other way around in the past but I don’t see many reasons somebody may want to copy the board image in graphic format.
Instead, I think emphasize on SFEN is more appropriate. SFEN can be used on other Shogi site, most notably aforementioned kyokumen.jp and many shogi programs and apps.
I hope this addition is useful for your study.
