When we launched the World Bodypainting Festival in 1998 we didn’t expect that this will last for years nor for decades.
We have been faced with challenges during the 27 years and now in 2025 we will have a break of the usual festival format.
BUT DON'T You WORRY - we still have for the bodypainting community something special this year to connect.
Instead of the traditional single-location festival, we will take our vibrant community on a journey, celebrating art, culture, and connection in some of the super inspiring locations.
Introducing the World Award: Camouflage Category
In July, we’ll unveil the World Award: Camouflage Category at a breathtaking new venue in Vipiteno/Sterzing in Italy. Nestled in the heart of the Alps, Vipiteno is a charming medieval town renowned for its rich history, stunning mountain views, and vibrant cultural scene. This picturesque setting offers the perfect backdrop for the artistry that define WBF.
A Year of Events: We’re thrilled to announce a series of events that will bring the magic of bodypainting to diverse audiences:

The World Award: Camouflage category is a special part of the World Bodypainting Festival, inspired by the famous technique where artists paint models to blend into the background. Since 2021, this award has celebrated the skill of creating optical illusions that challenge the eye. Many artists have dreamed of competing in this category, so the competition now takes place over two days, giving more participants the chance to show their talent.
The competition is held in Sterzing/Vipiteno, a beautiful town in the Italian Alps. Known for its colorful streets, medieval buildings, and mountain views, it feels like a place from a postcard. The town’s welcoming atmosphere and historic charm make it the perfect setting for an event where art becomes part of the surroundings.
