我的视线在几十个蓬乱的深色脑袋中捕捉到一抹浅色。我倾身向前望去。像阳光下的蜂蜜一样闪耀的头发，其中夹杂着闪烁发光的金子——王子的头冠。

My eye catches on a light head among dozens of dark, tousled crowns. I lean forward to see. Hair lit like honey in the son, and within it, glints of gold - the circlet of a prince.

P21 【Patroclus被流放寄养到Peleus的王国后和Achilles打招呼

他躺在一张带枕垫的宽阔长椅上，腹部放着一把竖琴。他漫不经心地拨着琴弦。他不是没有听到我进来，就是故意不看我。这就是我怎样开始理解我在这里的地位的。在这一瞬间之前我一直是一位王子，访问是被人期待和宣布的。而现在我是可被忽视的。

我拖着脚再上前一步，他的头懒散地垂到侧面问候我。自我上次见他的这五年来，他已经过了婴儿肥的阶段。我对这无情的打击，即他的美丽目瞪口呆，他有深绿色的眼睛，和像女孩一样精致的五官。这激起了我一阵突然而来喷涌而出的厌恶。我没有改变太多，也没有变得这么好。

He was lying on his back on a wide, pillowed bench, balancing a lyre on his stomach. Idly, he plucked at it. He did not hear me enter, or he did not choose to look. This is how I first began to understand my place here. Until this moment I had been a prince, expected and announced. Now I was negligible.

I took another step forward, scuffing my feet, and his head lolled to the side to regard me. In the five years since I had seen him, he had outgrown his babyish roundness. I gaped at the cold shock of his beauty, deep-green eyes, features fine as a girl's. It struck from me a sudden, springing dislike. I had not changed so much, nor so well.

P36 【Achilles和他爸说要Patroclus当他的companion

“是的。但这不是他的错。我忘记说我想要他当我的伙伴。”他用的词是Therapon。与王子并肩的，用血的誓言与爱立誓的伙伴。战时这些人是他光荣的护卫；和平年代则是他最亲近的顾问。这个位置代表着最高的崇敬，而这也是那些男孩蜂拥着Peleus儿子（Achilles）展示自己的另一个原因。他们希望被选中。

Peleus眯着眼：“过来，Patroclus。”

厚重的地毯在我脚下。我在Achilles身后略微跪下。我能感受到国王的目光注视着我。

“这些年来，Achilles，你把我向你推荐的同伴都拒绝了。为什么是他？”

这个问题也是我要问的。我没有任何东西可以提供给这样一位王子。而为什么他做了这样一个施舍于我的决定？Peleus和我都等待着他的答案。

“他很惊人。”

我抬头皱眉。如果他这样想的话，他是唯一一个。
