So, a friend of mine posted in her journal that she'd recently discovered paranormal

smut

romance novels via Hamilton, and that she had gotten a book from Serrilyn Kenyon (who, personally, I enjoy, but she didn't, so much.) So, on the off chance that other people would enjoy stories like these, I'm posting a few of my favorite authors in this genre. Feel free to post yours. (Note, only Roberts is listed in particular order, she being my favorite author in this genre. The others are listed in the order I thought of them.)

  1. Nora Roberts, in particular the Valley of Silence trilogy, but there are other trilogies that have to do with magic and romance that she's written. Yes, she's a formulaic author, but that's because she's a best seller for a reason.

  2. The Black Dagger Series by JR Ward. I newly discovered them this year, and I'm already on book four. It's a really different take on the whole vampire world, and one that's highly enjoyable.

  3. Julie Kenner. She's done a few different kinds of things. One that stands out is her series having to deal with superheroes, the Aphrodite series. Lots of humor, lots of fun. For the paranormal stuff, look for Demon-hunting Soccer Mom series. Again, as the title suggests, lots of humor. Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer after she semi-retires and becomes a mom and married.

  4. Lyndsay Sands is another paranormal humor/romance author, with a series about a family of vampires and how they met Twu Wuv. Series: Argeneau Family;

A Quick Bite

being the first.

  1. Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series is good, but doesn't have much sex in it at all (at least, the first two books don't.) Think early Laura Hamilton (Circus of the Damned) for this author's writing style.

  2. And, lastly, but up there with Roberts, maybe, is Kim Harrison. She's everything that Hamilton tried to be, yet failed at. Her series deals with vampires, werewolves, witches, demons and other things that go bump in the night, has some really hot scenes, but doesn't make it as "this is all about sex" like Hamilton started to go with, and she even has female/female pairs, which was hot for me.
