The location on the waterside in Leith was lovely. There were many excellent restaurants and bars nearby. The area seemed quieter at the time I visited than the very busy city centre, this was a positive for me. The building, the former Seamen’s Mission was interesting and well-restored. Good choice of drinks and food in the bar and restaurant. Good service from friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty with high quality products. Took advantage of the offer to upgrade my room and was upgraded two levels.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

What guests said about Edinburgh:

What a city. It is one that can truly capture your heart. There is a great range of pubs, cafes and restaurants and the many live music venues are filled with friendly locals and travellers. We loved ‘The Malt Shovel’ on Cockburn street for great pub meals, cheap cocktails and the staff are lovely. ‘Deacon Brodie’’ was a fun pub for a few drinks and live music and ‘Southern Cross cafe’ was great pick for breakfast/brunch. Any place on Cockburn street is a good pick for food and wandering through cute shops. It’s a great city to walk around and admire the art and architecture. We also walked to Dean Village to wander around and take some photos. Many of Edinburgh’s streets have steep stairs and if you are able to tackle them it’s worth the climb. There are a lot of attractions and activities from art and culture activities to nature walks. The hop on hop off bus was useful to get an overall view of where everything is located. A number of day trips to larger Scotland are also on offer making Edinburgh a good base. We went to Loch Ness and Glencoe with the Hairy Coo and would highly recommend the day tour. This was my second time to Edinburgh and once again I found myself not wanting to leave.

We went to a conference and stayed night before so we did not have much to sightsee as we had been at a conference in Glasgow day before also I was born there.Thamal was great Indian restaurant just down road and food was really good and plentiful he had curry and I Shetland scallops and a slightly spicy sauce.

It was very cold for us because it was October and we live in Florida in the US. By the end of the trip, we both had a cold. Other people who came to the same convention also complained that it was a cold time to visit, especially their visit to Edinburgh Castle. One woman said she had trouble taking pictures at the Castle because of the wind. We did not go to Sterling Castle or Glasgow, but others did, and they are not far away. We enjoyed the National Museum, the National Gallery, and Holyrood. We enjoyed shopping on the Royal Mile, but were not impressed with Princes Street. We took many photos, ate in several pubs, and had a great meal in the Huxley Hotel upstairs restaurant. Uber was very convenient, and we used it a lot. The people are very friendly.

The people are the best thing I enjoyed about Edinburg! Very friendly and helpful. High Street offers a lot of entertaining options. The architecture of the buildings, especially the cathedrals was very impressive. Easy city to walk or taxi. I'll definitely be back and stay longer.

Edinburgh is romantic and picturesque, parts of it ancient and storied, overall a great city for exploring. The people are friendly and helpful. It is a bit over-touristed in places, but it's so much fun you won't care.

Lovely lively city, beautiful place to just wander through and enjoy. The Obscura is a must visit. Nutan's was our favourite discovery for good authentic Indian food, get the thali to try some of everything!

It starts with a booking
The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

Followed by a trip
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

And finally, a review
After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
