Two distinct periods, prior to 2000 and after 2000 were compared. The data from the period after 2000 were further analyzed to provide better understanding of the results. In order to assess the overall state of safety in Serbian mines, the data on fatal injuries were also compared to the international data. It was found that the legislative changes are more easily accepted by the common workers than by the mine management. Consequently, the key recommendation for the safety of coal mine companies in Serbia is the investment in the new technology. Additionally, mine management should be in the focus of the mining inspection with a stronger penal policy regarding mine safety neglect.

These are following ore bodies: T, T1 and T2. Mining in ore body T had been ended two years ago and the stope was supposed to be backfilled after the end of excavation. However, process of backfilling did not start yet. Applied mining method in currently active ore bodies, T1 and T2, is pillar mining in horizontal slices, with leaving open voids after the end of extraction. Existence of voids in underground mines is always a challenge, regarding stability and safety. In considerations of stability of open stopes in "Jama Bor", there are several key factors: rock mass properties, stope geometry, support properties and interaction between installed support and surrounding rock. Contemporary approach applied in each phase of the process, including determination of rock properties, mine design, mining operations, support installation and monitoring of stope stability during and after the excavation, enables accurate and reliable defining of stope stability. Also, such approach enables early detection of possible endangerments in stope stability, thus providing possibility for prevention and securing of endangered zones. Since the future of underground mining in RTB Bor is related deep lying ore deposits, bellow current operations, importance of their stability is even bigger.

For high-quality maintenance of the technical systems in mining, it is necessary to conduct a thorough analysis of machinery and accompanying elements in order to determine the critical elements in the system which are prone to failures. The risk assessment of the failures of system parts leads to obtaining precise indicators of failures which are also excellent guidelines for maintenance services. This paper presents a model of the risk assessment of technical systems failure based on the fuzzy sets theory, fuzzy logic and min-max composition. The risk indicators, severity, occurrence and detectability are analyzed. The risk indicators are given as linguistic variables. The model presented was applied for assessing the risk level of belt conveyor elements failure which works in severe conditions in a coal mine. Moreover, this paper shows the advantages of this model when compared to a standard procedure of RPN calculating-in the FMEA method of risk assessment.

The existing methods for risk evaluation use crisp sets for rating partial indicators’ proposition and their cumulative products as an overall indicator. In this paper, existing FMEA and FMECA methods have been improved using the fuzzy expert system for calculating the risk priority number. The application of fuzzy logic allows the use of linguistic descriptions for risk analysis. In this way, the state of the system in terms of risks and consequences is better described. The settings of the fuzzy systems are based on the application of two multi-criteria decision-making methods. The AHP method was used to define the mutual relationship of the impact of partial indicators (occurrence, severity, and detectability) on risk. Fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic theory, in combination with statistical methods, were applied to analyze the time picture state of the observed machine. Fuzzy logic is presented through fuzzy proposition and a fuzzy composition module. Using these tools, the symmetric position of the fuzzy sets with regard to class was used, and the symmetric fuzzy inference approach was used in an outcome calculation. The main benefit of the proposed model is being able to use numerical and linguistic data in a risk assessment model. The proposed risk assessment model, using fuzzy logic conclusions and min–max composition, was used on a mobile crushing machine. The results indicated that the risk level of the mobile crushing machine was in the “high” category, which means that it is neces...

The most of these analyses are directed on studying the method of injuries of workers and procedures that can prevent injury. Financial expenditures resulting from injuries of workers in Bogovina coalmine which occurred in 2016 are analyzed in this paper. Injury costs were processed based on the available data: compensations of the insurance companies to the injured workers, gross salaries of injured workers and similar. Within these data, the "cost of one work day lost" (COWDL) is defined. Comparison of the COWDL, based on qualification structure of the injured worker and the severity of the injuries, was performed. Also, an impact analysis of expenditures related to indemnity related to injuries at work to mine operational costs were carried out.
