Title: Thanks for the Memories

Author: Born0fVengeance

Fandom: Doctor Who

Pairing: Ten/Rose

Day after day was basically the same for the Doctor. Wake up, save the world, go back to bed, wake up and do the same thing over again. But today… today was different for the Doctor… today he didn’t save the world and today something happened that he never though would happen: he got mail. Since the TARDIS had no address and no mailbox, the Doctor wondered how he got mail… until he saw the handwriting. He recognized it right away. Rose Tyler.

“Doctor?” Donna Noble called from behind him. He cranked his head back and showed her the envelope. “Read it…” Donna started. “I’ll go back to the wardrobe and play dress-up.” she told him solemnly. The Doctor looked back at the letter sadly.

With a shaky hand, he opened it. The envelope ripped open like the time portal he wished he could rip open.

The paper was white, written in pink ink. It was smeared with obvious tears and scratched out numerous times, but of course the Doctor, with his higher intelligence, could still read it.

“Dear “John,”

I don’t know if it will ever get it to… probably won’t but I’m writing it anyway. I miss you… so much. For the beautiful memories you have given me, the good and the bad, I thank you. The other John has been great but… he isn’t you and it’s not the same.

And as much as I would love to hate you, as much as I should, for leaving me… I don’t. I don’t have much to tell you except; I still love you… I’m still in love with you…”

The Doctor couldn’t take anymore of the letter; he put it down and let go. He just started to cry… no not cry, but sob. Not the silent sob you see models do on T.V either, the full blown tears, loud, snot filled tears. He wiped his face and nose on the jacket to clear his vision but started to cry again.

The TARDIS started to hum sadly, feeling the Doctors’ pain. She searched frantically for her DNA, for the Bad Wolf.

A bright light shot out of the TARDIS heart, blinding the Doctor. Something formed and began to slowly take the former of a slender peroxided woman. The Doctor’s heart burst has he realized who it was: Rose Marion Tyler.

Rose looked around the room frantically, not sure where she was.

“R—Rose?” The Doctor whispered, whipping his eyes. He blinked to see if he was hallucinating. Rose looked over at him.

“Doctor…” She whispered. High heels clicked out of the wardrobe and Donna Noble presented herself. She groaned.

“Please just kiss already!?” Donna yelled. Rose smiled and ran to the Doctor, jumping in his arms. She wrapped her legs around him and ran a hand through his hair. The Doctor smiled and leaned over to kiss Rose.

The shared a sweet slow sweat full tears.

Rose pulled away. “Oh, Doctor.” she mumbled, standing on her feet. He laid his head on her forehead and smiled at her.

“I got your letter.” He told her. She smiled and kissed him again. They both looked at Donna.

“Just drop me off at my old house.” Donna said, defeated. The Doctor smiled and pulled Rose close.

“I’m never letting you go again, Rose. Even if it means I will die.” The Doctor promised her.

“Don’t be too drastic.” Rose smiled. “…and Doctor… thanks. Thanks for the memories you’ve given me and the ones you will give me.”

And they shared a slower kiss, signaling another era of gushy happy love and time traveling.
