philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche are both prominent figures of modern Western political th... more philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche are both prominent figures of modern Western political thought, although they lived more than a hundred years apart from one another. Regardless of the differences of the periods in which they were alive, Rousseau and Nietzsche tend to excessively differ from each other in terms of their views on human nature and political legitimacy. In this paper, I will try to compare and contrast these two philosophers' understandings about the Legislator/Lawgiver in the light of various concepts; such as aristocratism, the general will, and the will to power.
