Islam is a universal religion that accommodates and protects the rights of every individual withi... more Islam is a universal religion that accommodates and protects the rights of every individual within its domain without any social bound. It sees the relationships between human to be crucial, especially in the formation of cohabitation and harmonious living in the society particularly where there are multiple dimensional cultures, religions and civilization. This paper analyzed the scriptural rulings on the expected relationship between Muslims and the non-Muslims. It further examined the different definitions regarding the term Muslims and non-Muslims, demonstrated how Qur'an and the prophetic traditions encourage Muslims and non-Muslims' relationship with moderations, and discussed the Islamic goals behind Muslims relationship with non-Muslims in order to promote a peaceful society. This paper finally cross-examined the concept of peaceful coexistence and religious parley (from the both Quran and Bible) towards attaining national unity. In carrying out the investigation, descriptive approach was adopted. It was however observed that there is need to emphasize on religious harmony and coexistence among mankind perceived as the bedrock for national unity. It recommended that Muslims and Christians should live and relate in peace in worldly matters and each group should follow strictly each religious teachings on matters of relationship and public affairs while encouraging and tolerating religious differences.

The problem of insecurity in Nigeria has become a worrisome scenario and attracts the attention o... more The problem of insecurity in Nigeria has become a worrisome scenario and attracts the attention of individuals and organizations. It has become a situation where individuals can no longer sleep with two eyes closed due to different degrees of security threats and challenges, as people's lives and properties couldn't be guaranteed. This paper therefore investigates the cases of insecurity in Nigerian society, its causes and effects. Further, it examines the efficacy of Islamic political principles on governance towards reducing the menace of insecurity in Nigeria. It also analyzed the potential of these principles in curbing the problem of insecurity, as well as revealing the scriptural strength of both the Qur'an and Hadith as tools for managing insecurity. The paper employs a qualitative method and meta-analysis of relevant literature. The study revealed that non-infusion of Islamic political principles such as Al-Adl, al-Amanah, As-Shurah etc. for good governance had led to social injustice, inequality of commonwealth distribution of resources, lack of consultation to mention but a few as keys to the problem of insecurity in Nigeria. Thus, the study concluded that Islamic principles of politicking are favourable in making the political system a divine vehicle for the effective delivery of good governance such as the dispensation of social and equitable justice that will avert the problem of insecurity in Nigeria. The paper therefore recommends that establishing Islamic principles of political structure and governance is key to promoting and sustaining a violence-free society.

Sukūk has been the financial tool used to achieve the success of ICMs. Its significance as an intermediary in directing funds towards building a country's economy growth has brought Islamic finance to the fore of the international financial markets. In consonance, the global financial centers such as, the UK, Hong Kong and Luxembourg have all engaged in Sukūk issuance as part of their financial options. This paper x-rayed the role of Sukūk in Islamic Capital Markets, as a comprehensive analysis of the part played by it in the development of a country's economy growth. Comparative assessments have been made on matured and developing ICMs, as well as those in their infancy. Ultimately, the lessons derived from a Nigeria progress in nurturing its Islamic financial arena has been used as a benchmark to accelerate another Nigeria developmental effort. Analysis focussed on the issues and challenges related to structure, issuance (supply or sell) and investment (demand or buy) when comparing a domestic Sukūk market's state of development against its neighbouring peers or geographical groupings. Under these core headings, several yardsticks have been used to determine the level of the Sukūk market's inclusion in its financial system, and the progress of Sukūk as a financing tool for economic development. These yardsticks have been deployed towards developmental stage conditions, in which the general findings have been highlighted.
