"The 13.30 to London Paddington
will be destroyed. Thank you for your cooperation"
That went out over the tannoy in Oxford this afternoon. The automated services burped and mixed up a regular announcement with a 'do not leave your baggage unattended' message. I chuckled to myself as everyone else carried on with their business. Perhaps they took the message seriously? Anyhow, you will all no doubt be pleased to hear that my train was not destroyed and I am alive and well.
I went up to my Dad's house this weekend as it was my sister's third birthday. She had a small party yesterday consisting of a bouncy castle, party bags and games. I really wanted to be a toddler again as birthday parties used to be so much fun.
It was good seeing Alice. For some odd reason she gets very excited when I come up and see her. Although I suspect this time she was motivated by the fact I had some presents for her. The money grabbing little wench. When I later asked who she loved more: me or the dog, she said the dog.
In the morning my Dad and I walked past a chapel where a man was digging up the garden. It was hard work in the hot sun and my Dad commented on this, the man cheerfully agreed and my Dad added that no doubt he would enjoy a pint of beer later. The man failed to respond and as we continued to walk we saw a sign pointing the way to the Methodist chapel. Doh.
I have finally elevated myself to geek status. Well. Almost. One can but aspire. I wrote a script for my Dad's computer so when he double clicks an icon it copies various files to an external drive. I was quite please with myself for managing this.
