The life and times of Lord Boyzici (original) (raw)
A guy I work with is forcing me to watch Buffy. He tells me it is amazing television and all kinds of people are backing him up - hence me setting the Buffy poll to see if others felt the same way. I really did think that about one in four people would like it but it turns out that twice as many people liked it as not. You guys have no taste! Anyhow, I am watching Season 1 of Buffy and have only made it to episode 2 so far. I have been given the power to force this guy into watching a series he has never seen, so I have lent him season 1 of The West Wing. The exchange is seriously unfair. I have to watch rubbish and he gets the best show eva!!1
So the weekend - on Friday I went out to a local Brazilian restaurant for a friend's birthday. I live on Bristol's main partying road - there are so many bars and restaurants here, yet I very rarely go out to any of them for some unknown reason. Anyhow, afterwards we hit a bar and then a club. The club is located no more than 100 metres from my flat and yet in my four years of living here I have never been. It was actually kinda fun - I even ventured onto the dancefloor and that makes it twice I've danced in a month. I swear I never dance. After, everyone came back to my place having gone via the chipshop where we got kicked out.
On Saturday I went for a behind the scenes tour of Temple Meads - the train station. It was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel back in the early days of trains and the old part of the station is kind of interesting. After, we went for a couple of drinks nearby and I left at 5pm to go home.
In the evening I went to alphabetzoo's place for drinkies with some friends - we went on to dinner but the service was so slow. nigel complained rather aggressively and consequently we got the wine knocked off the bill. Bargain. I actually didn't mind waiting for the food cos chatting across a table is always better than a busy bar. We ended up paying £11 each for two courses and wine.
Sunday was largely spent doing very little but in the evening I went along with alphabetzoo, Phil, Jonny and KJ to see Sue Perkins. She is a lesbo stand up comedian who used to have a TV show called light lunch which I used to enjoy. She was also on Celeb Big Bro and kibby96 saw her perform in the north earlier this year and said she was hilarious. I wanted to find her funny, but I just couldn't. She got some chuckles out of me but that was it. It all seemed so scripted - I know acts always are scripted but she would fluff her lines and then go off on a pre-written tangent about the fluffing and it kind of irritated me. In the second half I found it took all my self control to stay awake as I was a wee bit tired.
So that's my weekend. If you haven't done so then do the game console quiz. I am in meetings all day so won't get the results out at midday.
