The life and times of Lord Boyzici (original) (raw)

I just had my best poker finish - from 38 players I came 3rd. I've come 2nd and 3rd in the past but against smaller fields. I played a different strategy of being tight and then bluffing big from time to time. On consecutive hands I knocked people out - one I hit the flush with the final 2 cards and the next I hit the straight with the final three. Anyhow, 4 hours of poker is quite enough on a school night. I'm now nipping at the heels of the regional qualifiers up in Birmingham, if I do well this Sunday and on Tuesday then I'll have a seat at the table.

On my way home this guy came up to me. His first words were 'I'm deaf'. 'Marvellous' I thought. I told him I could sign and we had a conversation - his name was Paul, he was certainly gay and probably in his late teens and drunk. He lived in Birmingham and was at dance college in Cheltenham (I think) and had no money. He wanted £4.50 to get home and I gave it to him. I never give money to such people but made an exception. Anyhow, he gave me a hug, smiled and winked and I walked off. That's the first time I've been able to properly communicate in sign language and it was rather cool.
