Pediatric sedation is a challenge which spans all continents and has grown to encompass specialities outside of anaesthesia, radiology and emergency medicine. The widespread availability of noninvasive monitoring, shortacting opioids and sedatives, and specific opioid and benzodiazepine antagonists has enabled clinicians to administer sedation safely for procedures in diverse settings. In this paper, we conducted a preliminary search to find review articles regarding sedation in pediatric dentistry and explored the current status of sedation as reflected in the published studies and reports. Evidence was collected via systematic searches through electronic databases, Google Scholar and consulted with professionals for their opinion on the subject matter. This review especially focussed on the current status, some of the relevant sedation guidelines and recommendation of sedation services in pediatric dentistry.

Since the development of the adhesive dentistry, many case reports of crown fractures restored using adhesive reattachment techniques were published. This article reports management of one coronal tooth fracture case that were successfully treated using tooth fragment reattachment on palatal aspect especially along with the use of adhesive resins for coronal build up.

Presented herewith is a case report of a patient with a mesiodens which had caused problem in esthetic appearance and spontaneous eruption of right sided upper lateral incisor. Extraction of the mesiodens was carried out, subsequently followed by the space closure utilizing simple fixed orthodontic therapy.

Materials and methods: Study design -A cross sectional survey. 46 medical doctors were randomly included in the study and the participation was voluntary. Data regarding the emergency management of avulsed tooth was collected using a self administered questionnaire having questions which were close ended. Results: 56.6% of the medical doctors knew the correct meaning of avulsed tooth. Only few 41.3% had prior knowledge about management of an avulsed tooth and remaining 58.6% were unaware of its management. Out of those, 78.9% acquired the information during their tenure of medical course and for remaining 5.2% the source of information being health talks on television or radio and CDE programes.58.6% choose saline as a best medium to preserve an avulsed tooth, 8.6% choose saliva, 4.3% milk. A very high number of medical professionals didn't know the ideal time for replantation of an avulsed tooth. Conclusion: The knowledge of medical doctors about avulsion of tooth was fair. It is the responsibility of the dentists to make them aware of the importance of first aid for avulsed tooth with appropriate measures. Therefore, educational training programs should be developed and conducted to improve awareness regarding emergency management of an avulsed tooth.

Materials and Methods: The proposed sample size consisted of 42 children from 7 to 10 years of age. The chemo-mechanical method was used for excavation of caries. The caries removal time, pain during caries removal, anesthesia required and patient behavior was evaluated. Results: Complete caries removal was achieved in 30 patients (71.4%) with chemo-mechanical method. For complete removal of caries the average time taken was 8.0855 ± 1.1024 (SD). There was no statistical difference between the time taken for score 0, 1 and 2. 23.8% of the children experienced little pain during caries removal using Carisolv. None of the patients showed negative behavior during the procedure, favoring that the Carisolv method as mostly accepted treatment. Conclusions: Carisolv is effective alternative treatment for removal of carious dentine and appeared to be more comfortable for pediatric patients although the clinical time spent is longer.
