Surgery has developed and improved significantly over the years, from basic incisions in the skul... more Surgery has developed and improved significantly over the years, from basic incisions in the skull by reason of curiosity - to robot assisted surgery; it raises the question “When did surgery become socially acceptable?” Once surgery became the common knowledge and technology developed, a new approach was taken – robot assisted surgery. With the success of the Da Vinci robot and the world’s first successful tele-surgery it is clear that medical robotics is becoming successful. Although these methods help improve the experience for the doctor and the patient [1], what does this do to the doctor/patient relationship and does this potentially dehumanize the patient?
