Nobody has posted in a year. I just remembered this community and wanted to see if it was still alive. Apparently not. :-P

another one... sorry :)
So, I've got the (Australian) State Band Champs in September, and the senior band I'm in is playing
Eternal Father, Strong to Save (The Navy Hymn)
.
Claude T Smith arrangement
I was hoping that somebody out there might be able to help me locate a recording of this piece (not just the little hymn bit... but the piece that starts with the trumpet fanfare). Maybe your band played it a few years ago and they recorded it? I don't know.
Ok. Thanks very much if you can help. I will be eternally grateful :)

I haven't been in here since forever, so, I'm back now. :-)
Does anyone participate in Tuba Christmas? It's really fun. Check it out:

So, I've picked up piccolo trumpet and horn, and I'm starting clarinet (it's pretty easy so far). Maybe I should start trombone again?
I'm planning on joining drum corps after I graduate (currently I'm a junior in high school), but I don't know which ones allow girls... It's unfair that the amazing ones like the Cavaliers and Cadets are male-only. *sigh* Could anybody here tell me some good ones that I could try out for?

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to say that I still love brass, but guess what! I am now a member of the Wright City High School marching band, aka Wildcat Pride Marching Band. They are (of course, as most American bands are) a woodwind band, and it PAINS me to say that they do NOT have any cornets, flugelhorns, euphoniums, barytones OR alto-horns... So I have to play the alto-sax parts (I play the alto-horn). America should establish some more brass bands, and make the brass community a bit bigger. I mean, Stavanger Brass Band from Norway is the number one North American brass band (yeah), and that says a lot. A Norwegian band being the best American band? Yeah...
EDIT:
1. No, I do not hate woodwinds, I just dislike it
2. No, my band is not purely woodwinds
3. Did anyone stop and think that, hey, maybe I live in an extremely small place, and maybe they don't HAVE a drum corps?

hey everyone. did anyone here go to UMass band day yesterday?! it was amazing, as always. at least this year there were no torrential downpours and we were under the lights which was just incredible. my school [granby] was the group of losers with white polos that said "granby high band" - you probably laughed at us. i was wearing a black pinstripe fedora during rehearsal :)
if you didn't go, you should. because its just awesome.

My name is Nicholas J. McKenzie and I have been a lover of music, marching band, and drum corps for the greater part of my life. It is because of this great love of everything wonderful that it means so much to me to be able to announce that...
