Road & Track Road Test: 1990 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 (original) (raw)
For the September 1990 issue of their magazine, Road & Track tested the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4. The article explains how Mitsubishi came up with the model name before going into technical details and performance numbers. Check out the full eight-page review below to see how the car performed.
Mitsubishi dillydallied on the name of the 3000GT, first calling it Illusion. Because the definition of that word is “false idea or conception,” the manufacturer decided instead to go with the less-romantic alphanumeric. The twin-turbocharged, all-wheel-drive, all-wheel-steer VR-4 model posted a record time in R&T’s slalom, and put up numbers in the same league as the Ferrari Testarossa. Spoiler alert, the reviewers liked the car.
Here’s the cover of Road & Track’s issue from September 1990.
This road test will also be posted on the Mitsubishi 3000GT Model Page and on upcoming VR-4 listings.
