The book depicts a Jewish sect as its members spread word of Jesus around parts of the Roman Empire. Luke, often described as a physician, wrote the book as a work for a specific community at the behest of a patron. 1 As such, Luke falls prey to what he finds important within his own culture and the culture of Christianity.
