The photo-Fenton best operating conditions, such as, irradiation time, dye concentration, H2O2/Fe dosage and the reaction kinetics were investigated and evaluated. The efficiency of the treatment was measured by the use of absorbance method using UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The results showed that the optimum irradiation time for the photo-Fenton process was equal REPORT Vol. 4, 2018 Science & Technology ISSN 2394–3750 EISSN 2394–3769

For over one decade, the region, which forms a part of the defunct Sokoto Caliphate (1804-1903) established during the 19 th-century Islamic revivalist movement, has been grappling with the scotching impact of extremism that has escalated into a full violence. This problem invited both local and international attention for interventions to eliminate its scourge. As various state and non-state actors strive to gain control over the situation, underlying local factors and dynamics that originally triggered the conflict are resurfacing. These include stricter interpretations of scriptural texts, the Salafi-Wahhabi anti-Sufi rhetoric, and the Sufi counter-Wahhabi propaganda. However, this time, there is an added dimension of political and state manipulation of the religious marketplace, utilizing its actors to suppress Freedom of Expression, Understanding, and, by implication, Freedom of Religion. This chapter takes into account the historical antecedents of religious freedom sabotage in the region while acknowledging the progress achieved through democratic governance. As such, it aims to explore current trends and incidents concerning the intricate interaction of religion and politics in the incarceration of religious scholars who are often labeled as "blasphemers" or "sellouts." By examining these complex aspects, the chapter seeks to shed light on the challenges faced in preserving and safeguarding FoRU in Northern Nigeria.
