The leading approach is to use recommender systems (RS) to extract relevant information from the vast amount of knowledge. However, early recommender systems emerged without the cognizance to contextualize information regarding users' recommendations. Considering the historical methodological limitations, Context-Aware Recommender Systems (CARS) are now deployed, which leverage contextual information in addition to the classical two-dimensional search processes, providing better-personalized user recommendations. This paper presents a review of recent developmental processes as a fountainhead for the research of a context-aware recommender system. This work contributes by taking an integrated approach to the complete CARS developmental process, unlike other review papers, which only address a specific aspect of the CARS process. First, an in-depth review is presented pertaining to the state-of-the-art and classified literature, considering the domain of the application models, filters, extraction and evaluation approaches. Second, viewpoints are presented relating to the extraction of literature with analysis on the merit and demerit of each, and the evolving processes between them. Finally, the outstanding challenges and opportunities for future research directions are highlighted.

The role of the information system otherwise regarded as the federated multimedia digital library, ICT policy framework implementation, and e-learning education in the academic sustainability of the developing nations such Nigeria and Africa is to ensure free circulation of knowledge within digital information
ecosystem. As the global world evolve into digital economy with ever increasing possibility of software technology (information system) taking greater percentage of the entire world existence in the near future for educational automation. This current paper is of the opinion that educational investment in the 21st century should embrace technological innovation, software consolidation, and ICT infrastructure in transforming education and making it flexible for easy management.

Recently, MOOC is globally becoming a key instrument in digitally mediated learning and teaching, due to its ability to provide interactive user forums to support community interactions among participants and instructors. Despite its global acceptance, countries in sub-Saharan Africa suffer some drawbacks within the context of awareness and adoption. Kano state is one of the cities in Sub-Saharan Africa with high population where MOOCs participation is significantly needed. Therefore, the rationale of this study is to appraise the level of awareness, perceived benefits and challenges of MOOCs adoption among University students of Kano State, Nigeria. The study was conducted in form of a survey using structured questionnaire administered to three hundred (300) randomly selected respondents. Finding from the study revealed a variation in the level of awareness among IT and non IT inclined students. The investigation of MOOC benefits indicates improved learning performance and effectiveness among study samples. The study further revealed user unfriendliness, inadequate Internet connectivity, power instability and cost of enrolments as factors influencing slow adoption of MOOC. The evidence from the study suggests that, awareness and adoption of MOOCs can be enhanced through establishment of hubs, provision of national accredited curriculum and subsidized cost of enrollments.
