What Parents Need to Know about "Bullycide"-Trigger Warning for Suicide

The death of a girl who died by what her parents call “bullycide” is raising questions about whether suicide can be attributed to bullying.

"However, according to Julie Cerel, president of the nonprofit American Association of Suicidology, bullycide is a misleading term. “Suicide is never [caused by] just one thing — lots of people are bullied who don’t commit suicide,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Pointing to one event oversimplifies a complicated issue and makes prevention more difficult.” Data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports that point. According to the CDC website, kids who are bullied — and those who bully — are at a higher risk for suicide. However, most kids who are involved in bullying don’t attempt suicide."
Oh, fuck off! Just because many people don't actually go through with committing it doesn't mean they aren't suicidal. You know how I fucking know? Because I was one of those bullied victims that never committed suicide, but it doesn't fucking mean I didn't struggle with thoughts for a while (I refuse to say how long I struggled with thoughts). Only reasons I didn't do it? Well, for starters, I didn't want to hurt those that actually gave a shit about me. Second of all, I didn't want to really die, but I came to the conclusion years after the fact that I was suicidal because I was that desperate to stop being bullied that I was willing to die to fucking escape it.

Just a friendly reminder....
abusers claiming it as a joke

When you've done all that? It is emotional and mental abuse. People who claim this as jokes are calling it jokes as a way to back peddle when someone has called them out on their behavior.

It's been too quiet here lately, so...

verbal abuse

I can say that even when you try to block it all from your memory, it doesn't work. All those memories of being verbally, mentally, and emotionally abused via bullying come back to bite you in the ass. It does scar you for life.

Pregnant Anchor Reads Hate Mail About Her Body on Air and Gets Awesome Response

Chief meteorologist Kristi Gordon of Canada’s Global BC News recently went on-air to deliver an exciting forecast: she was pregnant, and going to have her second child. However, the delivery of this announcement came with a strange request attached. She asked viewers to, please, be nice about the clothes she wore on TV during her pregnancy. “It was horrible last time,” Gordon declared, in reference to her first go-round carrying a child. This did not help. People exploded with more “hate mail” than ever about Gordon’s wardrobe and her changing body — which she decided to read during a recent broadcast.A sample? “Nowhere on North America TV have we seen a weather reader so gross as you,” one piece of mail read. “Your front end looks like the Hindenburg and your rear end looks like a brick [censored] house… We now turn off Global.”

It's absolutely unbelievable how some people can treat others about their appearence, especially towards pregnant women. This MD said it the best:
“Creating and supporting life is truly a miracle, and everyone has had a mother at some point — somebody who made this sacrifice for them, and looked ‘different’ so that they could be alive today,” Worly continues. “**Offensive comments aimed at pregnant women are short-sighted, inconsiderate, and overly materialistic.**”

High Schooler Catches Teacher Bullying Him on Camera

When you hear stories of high school bullying, you expect the harassment to have come from students, not teachers. But a substitute teacher recently led a classroom of bullies in taunting a ninth grade boy—and the freshman caught the whole thing on camera. Fifteen-year-old Stephen Davis was in math class at Streamwood High School in Illinois last week when a fellow student drew a picture on an electronic whiteboard depicting Davis — which the student labeled as the misspelled “Stepen”— as a big-eared, buck-toothed cartoon monster. Soon, the class’s substitute teacher joined in, and Davis whipped out his camera. The video, which his sister uploaded to Facebook, shows the teacher drawing antennae on the cartoon character, and labeling it “Stephen’s ugly ass.”Davis told CBS Chicago that he’s used to getting picked on because he’s overweight. “I get bullied a lot during the school day, I’m big. I shake it off. Basically, it’s background noise to me now, it’s happened since first grade,” he said. “But this is the first time a teacher has actually done it.”

From the article:
“A message from CEO Tony Sanders: I want to assure our parents that we are aware of the video that is circulating allegedly showing a substitute teacher bullying a student at Streamwood High. Immediate and appropriate action was taken early this morning pending the outcome of our investigation.”
I have a sneaking suspicion that what I underlined was a nice way of saying "We fired this teacher". At least, I hope that's what happened. It's bad enough when students bully each other, but it is another when you're getting bullied from an authority figure like a teacher. So, I hope she wasn't only fired but cannot sub in that county again. Of course, considering this was caught on camera, she probably won't be subsituting ever again. I have no sympathy for her or anyone else that get caught hurting others on cams.

Bullies' Homecoming Prank Backfires

A teen was told from a group of bullies that she had been nominated for homecoming queen when she wasn't. So, two of her friends, who were both nominated for homecoming queen, decided that if one of them won...they would give the crown to their friend.

A head's up...it's better to watch the vid than try to read the transcript. The transcript is riddled with typos and you understand the full scale of the story more if you watch the vid. If you have trouble seeing the vid, let me know and I will try to give a better summary of the story.

Has anyone ever had a bully or a group of bullies pull a prank like this on you? Or someone you know? Or had pulled a prank similar where they did something to make you think you were getting something or someone was interested in you when it was the opposite?
