Im very excited but finding it hard to find any info on regulations in europe. or phone numbers of local authorities. i am wondering if there is anyone out there who can help? any tips what so ever would be greatly appreciated!Cheers! I figured I might as well answer those questions people seem to fire off at me all the time. Since it's the winter time and I'm not busking that much, I figured, now's the time to compile a list of those annoying/thought-provoking questions and start answering them!Coincidentally, the first post is about why I don't street perform in the winter!Please read it! Some fact-twisting aside, I think it's a pretty good read. Although, for any of you out there looking to come to Toronto to work, this year some heavier laws were enacted against internationals so good luck with that! :p Buskers World. I write, play guitar, and record a lot but it's on my own. I'm about to study abroad in Edinburgh and kind of want to try busking there. Number one, if a person doesn't take up much space/use electronics and doesn't make much money, as I'm sure will be the case for me, do they need to get a license?Number two, what is the right place to play so no one will be mad at me? I'm sure there are people who are actually good at busking who would be like "wtf are you doing here in my busking place" and I'm pretty shy and would like to avoid confrontation, especially because this is just an experiment that probably won't be too successful. I believe you need a permit to play in the subway; is that true? What about on the street? There's a clickable map on the front page where you can see the location of street performers and artists, plus videos and photos and some contact information. It's supposed to showcase the talents of the artists and to provide them with an audience past that of the sidewalk. There's no money involved in the site, and any business you get from it is entirely yours. I'm not trying to make a buck, it's just a personal project of mine. Has anyone besides me noticed that attention and tips for buskers have fallen off significantly in recent months? It has definitely been my experience (even here in Seattle, even at Pike Place Market and the local bus tunnel!). Have things been better or worse in terms of earnings for buskers in your city during the past three to six months?Just thought I'd do an unofficial, um, study or something (LOL). I know that Seattle, where I live, is a generally busker-friendly area (though you need permits in some places). I'm having vague notions of visiting some other cities with good attitudes towards buskers--perhaps even touring such places in a more or less organized fashion.
