The Santa Biblia: Reina-Valera 2009 is the first edition of the Holy Bible to be published by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a language other than English. This version is based on the 1909 Reina-Valera, an important Spanish Bible in the Protestant tradition. The LDS Church had a team of translators and general authorities revise the biblical text, conservatively updating the archaic language while preserving its literary strengths. The revised translation also incorporates textual data from ancient versions of the Greek New Testament. This new LDS edition also includes and adds to study aids previously found in the English edition, including chapter headings, cross-references to other LDS scripture, and quotations from the Joseph Smith Translation. Charts give examples of the many and various types of decisions made and compare the Santa Biblia and the King James Version.
