Building capacity in kids’ mental health by working with mental health service providers to reduce waiting times.
About us
We invest in kids’ mental health by working with service providers to build capacity. More than ever, kids are reaching out for support. Demand is increasing and mental health service providers are struggling to keep up. Kids and their families are trapped on waitlists – unable to get the help they desperately need. Capitalize for Kids began in 2014 as a charitable investors conference that raised 1millionfortheCentreforBrainandMentalHealthatSickKids.Today,weareagrowingcommunityoffinancialservicesprofessionalsrallyingourfriends,familiesandfirmstosupportkids’mentalhealth.Todate,wehaveraisedover1 million for the Centre for Brain and Mental Health at SickKids. Today, we are a growing community of financial services professionals rallying our friends, families and firms to support kids’ mental health. To date, we have raised over 1millionfortheCentreforBrainandMentalHealthatSickKids.Today,weareagrowingcommunityoffinancialservicesprofessionalsrallyingourfriends,familiesandfirmstosupportkids’mentalhealth.Todate,wehaveraisedover5 million for our beneficiaries. The strength of our community enables us to take an unconventional approach to philanthropy. We don’t cut blank cheques to our beneficiaries. Instead, we work with them to identify opportunities to build capacity and reduce waitlists. Ultimately, we help more kids access the care they need.

- "Parents are facing choices they should never have to face," says Priscilla Manful, CEO of Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. A recent Toronto Star article exposes a crisis in child welfare: children with complex health needs are being placed in care—not because of abuse, but because there are no other options. Overwhelmed parents, struggling with long wait times and lack of support, are being forced to relinquish care. In Toronto, more than 60 children with complex mental health, developmental, or behavioural needs are in the care of children’s aid societies—often in unlicensed settings or far from home—because the system simply can't meet their needs. At Capitalize for Kids, we understand the impact of these gaps firsthand. We’ve worked with over 70 child and youth mental health agencies across 19 cities and regions, helping them tackle complex challenges through collaboration, strategic partnerships, and innovative solutions. Our Impact Consulting Team helps communities, organizations, and systems work together to provide better support for children, youth, and families, ensuring they get the care they need to thrive. The current crisis in child and youth mental health demands action. It’s time to step up and work together to build a system that truly supports families and addresses these urgent needs. We're excited to take part in Children's Mental Health Ontario's CMHO Conference--the largest child and youth mental health and addictions conference in North America. On November 19th, we'll join Capitalize for Kids as we host a workshop that explores how we partnered to support collective action and decision-making in the sector. Together, we'll explore our current state journey map that outlines the provincial landscape of youth transitioning to adult mental health services, and engage in an exercise that seeks to pinpoint high-priority next steps and tangible takeaways that drive impact and improve the experiences of transitional-aged youth. This summer, I worked at Capitalize for Kids as a Business Development Summer Analyst, focusing on the C4K Investors Conference. A few weeks ago, I took the opportunity to return as a volunteer and witness the event come together firsthand—it was an incredible experience. The conference brought together 550 professionals from the global alternative investment community and featured 40 distinguished speakers. It was truly inspiring to hear firsthand accounts and insights from industry leaders, sharing valuable investment opportunities and candid stories from their experiences in the industry. The best part was that the conference raised a record-breaking $2.63M in support of child and youth mental health! I am very grateful I had the opportunity to attend this event and work with such an amazing team this summer! I also want to give a special thank you to Jessica Adams and Melissa Botelho for your mentorship. - Capitalize for Kids reposted this

Thrilled to support Capitalize for Kids and all the impactful work they do for children’s mental health. I am honored to have been back as a speaker at this year’s annual conference where I had the pleasure of discussing the uniquely attractive opportunities that we are finding across credit markets, particularly those in asset based finance, with the razor-sharp and well-informed Jennifer Diana Lee of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. A heartfelt thank you to the entire C4K organization and to Jenn for her great insights as usual. - We’d like to extend our deepest appreciation to The Globe and Mail, one of our fantastic in-kind sponsors for the 11th Annual Capitalize for Kids Investors Conference!
