Today I’m reflecting on the values that keep our society strong: freedom, liberty, and democracy. Today isn’t only about remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice; it’s about honoring everyone who has fought – and continues to fight – for our rights and freedoms. From soldiers on the front lines to advocates for civil rights, free speech, and government transparency, freedom fighters are those who stand up against tyranny and division. One Canadian hero who exemplifies these values is Georges Vanier. A World War I hero and one of Canada’s first French-Canadian leader, Vanier went on to become Governor General, where he dedicated himself to promoting unity in Canada. He believed deeply in bridging divides and worked tirelessly to foster a sense of shared identity and mutual respect among Canadians, regardless of background. As he said, “Love one another. Cherish the land in which you live. Seek to preserve its beauty and its traditions, and strive always to keep it united.” In a time when our society feels increasingly polarized, Vanier’s example shows us the power of bringing people together in service of something greater. Today, I honor the sacrifices of those who’ve come before us and those who continue to stand for freedom, democracy, and justice. Let’s remember heroes like Vanier and strive to unite our communities. Having spent the past three years working in commercial real estate in Toronto, I’ve learned a ton about this world and would love to share some findings while asking for your feedback. The process of finding office space has transformed dramatically post-COVID. It’s no longer just a place to park employees; it has become a cultural hub. Our entire operations team is still 100% remote, reflecting a shift in how we view work culture in the real estate industry. What I’m seeing as successful office spaces today is that they serve as gathering spots—a place for collaboration, socializing, and connection. They remind me of the pre-historic megalithic sites where tribes would come together to conduct business, trade, and forge community. It’s about creating spaces that foster relationships rather than just providing desks for making calls. What do you believe is essential in an office space today?
