- Today, we’re celebrating 30 years of Kelly Reddigan. Kelly is a force to be reckoned with. She’s sharp, tenacious, dedicated – and above all, kind-hearted. It’s what makes her such a legendary negotiator, consistently securing the best value for our clients. And it’s what makes her lead all of Target’s charity and fundraising efforts, giving back to those in need year after year, and inspiring all of us to do the same. Whatever Kelly does, she does it with her whole heart. She’s an irreplaceable team member, a trusted colleague, and a thoughtful friend (not to mention a fierce cornhole competitor). Thank you for bringing your talent, energy, and kindness to your work, and to all of us at Target for the last 30 years. Here’s to Kelly! 🥂
- We’re #hiring! Our team is looking for a graphic designer. Someone with at least 2 years of experience, passionate about producing high-quality work, and knows Adobe and Figma like the back of their hand. Bonus points for being a cornhole champion. (We’re flexible on that one.) If that sounds like you, check out the job listing below or drop us a line at careers@targetmarketing.ca.
- We sure got into the spirit at our spooktacular soirée! Everyone brought their A-game, but it was Kayla—our administrative assistant and resident garden gnome—who took home the prize in the costume contest. Happy Halloween from all of us at Target!
- Did you know the St. John's International Women's Film Festival is Canada’s longest-running women’s film festival? This year marks their 35th anniversary, and our Admin Superstar, Kayla Costello- Hearn (also known as DJ Hearnia), has been volunteering for 19 of those years—serving on the jury for film submissions for the past two. Join Kayla at the LSPU Hall and The Majestic Theatre from October 22-26, and watch some amazing films made by women. https://lnkd.in/gVdzTRdW
- We always boast of this city’s talent and creativity - and the culinary scene is no exception. Last night at Canada's Great Kitchen Party, the Target team got to enjoy some amazing food from some of our province’s top chefs. Congrats to Nick Walters on the big win, and a shoutout to Katy Pelletier - we missed seeing you there (but we didn’t mind eating your share.)
- *Record Scratch* *Freeze Frame* Yep, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I got here. Craft copywriting Gold at the Ice Awards, shortlisted at Communication Arts and ADCC | The Advertising & Design Club of Canada (🤞) and now 2x Applied Arts Media Young Blood winner. For a long time, Melissa Bassett would get tripped up by a common question: Where do you see yourself in five years? Advertising was never in her plan. She could name her favorite ads, and had a natural knack for words, but her career took her through nearly every industry but advertising—retail, insurance, child care. Nothing ever stuck. When she first applied to Target in 2015, she had no advertising education or experience. She didn’t get the job – but her cover letter was so funny, our HR manager had to call her just to let her know to keep in touch. In 2019, she tried again. And this time landed a role as the administrative assistant, where she channeled her sharp wit and clever wordplay through all-staffs and front desk banter. Her eye for detail led her into a new role as WordPro/Research Assistant. And then, a random pun-filled email exchange with creative director TJ Arch opened a door. Sensing her potential, he brought her onto a few projects as a trial run. By 2023, Melissa was officially a Junior Copywriter at Target. Fast forward to today, and Melissa has officially arrived. Among other successful projects, her radio campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Newfoundland is being recognized alongside the best advertising work in Canada. Melissa is a testament to the power of the unconventional. Not just in her natural creativity, but in her path to success. We’re so proud of you — and can’t wait to see what the next five years bring.
- We’re full of gratitude (and food). Today, we’re especially thankful for our incredible team and everything they bring to the table—both at potlucks and in the amazing work they do. We’re looking forward to a long Thanksgiving weekend with our friends and families – see you on Tuesday!
- A Silver from the gold standard of effective advertising? That’s as good as gold to us. We’re thrilled to have another win for “What did you learn today?" But an Effie isn’t just another win - it’s THE win. It means we delivered results and made a real impact for our client, St. Bonaventure’s College. It means we did what we always set out to do - make work that works, and make our client's cash register ring. #EffieAwards #EffieCanada2024

We won Best of Show at the Ice Awards for the first time in 2003. Twenty one years later, and we’re winning it again for the tenth time. It’s nice to know we haven’t lost our touch. With our other 21 wins, including 12 golds, you could say we had a pretty great night last night. Congratulations to all the winners – Atlantic Canada may be one small corner of this country, but we sure pack a punch. And of course, congratulations to all our clients - Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Newfoundland, NL Cup, Communications Security Establishment Canada, and Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.#IceAwards2024
