About us
Since 2015, Women Techmakers (WTM) Montreal is a dynamic, independent community initiative run entirely by a passionate team of local volunteers. It is dedicated to a clear mission: to build a supportive, hands-on community for women in technology and to increase their visibility, empowerment, and practical success. The community's focus is on practical, skills-based learning. While inspirational talks have their place, the core of WTM Montreal is designed for active participation, not just passive listening. People come here to learn and build. The heart of this activity is the annual Women Techmakers Day conference. This event is a hub for: - Hands-on technical workshops on topics like AI, cloud, and mobile development, UX, Ethical and Responsible AI, Tech in Manufacturing and Healthcare, Cybersecurity and much more. - Skill-building sessions for career development and leadership. - Deep-dive technical talks from practitioners in the field. - Targeted networking to connect directly with peers, mentors, and industry recruiters. Impact & Success With over 11 years of history, WTM Montreal has grown into a major force in the city's tech scene. Its annual conference has become a cornerstone event, consistently drawing over 400 participants. More importantly, the community is the heart of a collaboration involving 30 tech partners in Montréal. WTM Montreal serves as the central engine that first united these organizations, and it actively leverages this network for the benefit of its members. A key success is building bridges between talent and opportunity. By fostering strong relationships with both local and global enterprises, the community provides its audience with direct pathways to jobs and internships, helping to launch and accelerate careers in tech. This creates a tangible impact, ensuring members not only gain skills but also find the concrete opportunities needed to thrive.

From neuroscience research to AI education and accessibility, Nathalie Sanon PhD has built a career at the intersection of science, learning, and social impact. After working on the mechanisms of epilepsy and the functioning of the human brain, she transitioned into managing AI training programs with a clear mission: to make AI more accessible, understandable, and responsible for both organizations and the public. Alongside her professional work, Dr Sanon is actively involved in mentoring and supporting youth, women, and Black and Indigenous communities — helping open pathways into tech for underrepresented groups. 🎤 During this session, Dr Sanon explores the often overlooked impacts of AI. De la recherche en neurosciences à la démocratisation de l’IA, Nathalie Sanon PhD a bâti un parcours à la croisée de la science, de l’éducation et de l’impact social. Après avoir étudié les mécanismes de l’épilepsie et le fonctionnement du cerveau humain, elle s’est tournée vers la gestion de programmes de formation en IA, avec une mission claire : rendre ces technologies accessibles, compréhensibles et responsables, tant pour les organisations que pour le grand public. Parallèlement, Dre Sanon s’engage activement auprès de jeunes, de femmes et de communautés noires et autochtones, contribuant à ouvrir les portes du secteur technologique à des groupes encore sous-représentés.
