I know I don't post over here at all anymore, but I realize several of you don't do Facebook so I am trying to make a decision on whether to keep this open or not. That being said, I do have something important to share.

Part of my goals for this month is to use up most of my scraps and random mismatched material, so I had a lot of small projects in mind. I went shopping for zippers the other night and wound up buying SIX yards of fabric. *head-desk* I couldn't help it, they were SO pretty. And on clearance, and you know clearance (pronounced CLARENCE) is my secret lover.

dine asked about a dopp kit and I have been trying to come up with a solution that wouldn't be above my skill level. Looking at the zipper bag and some of my new fabric it hit me. Square it off!

I didn't realize how out of practice I was until I was getting all of my supplies together and couldn't remember how to change the damn needle on the machine. That is exactly why I set this challenge for myself. I've usually only gotten the machine out for mending or quick fixes and a hem or two but, man, my basic skills are rusty. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

DAY #1-
So in preparation I asked Josh if he had anything he wanted me to make for him and being the smart ass that he is, said things like "a pink party dress, as long as you don't do a butt bow, or maybe a pocketbook as long as you don't expect me to carry it to Walmart". Yes, this is the man I married, LOL.

DAY #2-
I was a bit foggy today and really didn't feel like messing with my machine, so I cheated and made alterations to an earlier project.

I am planning out a purse "set" to work on for the next few days. It has a wallet, phone pouch, tissue pouch, make up bag, key fob, zipper bag for misc. things and the tote bag itself. I also have an idea for an organizer type thing that may also coordinate, but I haven't decided it if I am going to carry it in the bag daily.

(I posted this on Facebook, but decided to put it over here as well for those who don't FB)

September is National Sewing Month. That may not mean diddly to anyone, but I am using it as sort of a challenge to learn new techniques and build my skills. I'll be making mostly accessories and bags/purses along with a major clothing project for my daughter.

That being said, if anyone has any suggestions, let me know and it's yours! And I'll probably be giving away the other things too, so let me know.

I've mainly been holding court on Facebook and Twitter lately, but realize a few of you over here don't venture out to those venues (that I am aware of anyway, LOL) and an update is needed.

For those of you who weren't aware, I married the love of my life June 24. FUN FACT: He's bellamyrose's brother, which means Mel and I are officially family now, LOL.

I keep saying I am going to update over here more often and never do, but I am always willing to keep trying.

Also? For those keeping score at home? The Duckies are 13 and 17.....

NYSYNC REUNION AT VMA'S

For those who don't know (LOL) I am a huge WWE fan, so seeing CM Punk go into total fanboy mode makes me happy...

So, it's Monday night. We all know what that means, Loca screaming at the TV and yelling about the idiots on the internet.

And, I think there was a hockey game on.

My twitter feed was either the ridiculous shenanigans in the ring or the massive woes on the ice. Then BOOM. Shit collided....

Haven't made any badfic type posts in a LOOONG time, so I thought I'd make it a quickie:

You know it's going to be bad when the first paragraph still contains the beta notes within the story....

A few of you (my Karen's) have already brought up that LJ isn't as busy as it used to be. I remember the days when I was constantly refreshing and if for some odd reason was gone a day I'd have to skip 250+ to catch up. Now I barely sign in weekly and I'm caught up with in the 25 post that fit on my page.

I miss the ship wars and pic spams we used to have. All of the ridiculous pics and gifs (kare, once again, looking at you) and silly in jokes we'd spread all over until people felt like THEY needed in on it too.

We may not be as close any more, but as families go? Y'all are my home.

So my LJ-versary was May 3. NINE YEARS. Where has time gone?

Today is my son's 15th birthday. O.O I'm still trying to figure out how THAT happened, LOL.

OK, so I know I am not around here much and my fandom existence is minimal. I have been trying to get involved in other fandom type things, but, I have no starting point.

I see all of the hockey posts and I WANT to get excited, but really? I AM CLUELESS. I went to all of my high school's games, my friends' kids games etc. Hell, I had an incredible friendship with a former NHL star, yet to me it still looks like a bunch of men on skates waiting for a fight to break out.

Anyone want to teach me? LOL
