We aimed to describe their clinical features comparing confirmed and suspected non-confirmed COVID-19 cases during the Spanish epidemic peak. Confirmed COVID-19 ((+)COVID-19) corresponds to patient with positive RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 assay. Non-confirmed COVID-19 ((−)COVID-19) corresponds to patients with negative RT-PCR. COVID-19 was suspected in 61 patients (40/803 KT (4.9%), 21/220 MHD (9.5%)). Prevalence of (+)COVID-19 was 3.2% in KT and 3.6% in MHD patients. Thirty-four (26 KT and 8 MHD) were (+)COVID-19 and 27 (14 KT and 13 MHD) (−)COVID-19. In comparison with (−)COVID-19 patients, (+)COVID-19 showed higher frequency of typical viral symptoms (cough, dyspnea, asthenia and myalgias), pneumonia (88.2% vs. 14.3%) and LDH and CRP while lower phosphate levels, need of hospital admission (100% vs. 63%), use ...

The model takes into account muscular behaviors typically observed during human gait, such as submaximal activation, variable muscular contraction conditions and muscular fiber type. The solution of the indeterminate biomechanical problem is obtained by integrating multibody dynamics and the global static optimization technique that considers the whole motion. The results for an application case indicate the important role of muscle groups in coordinating multijoint motion with the objective of minimizing metabolic costs of transport during locomotion.

To characterize the dynamics of skeletal muscle, a phenomenological model of energy expenditure was developed for estimating energy consumption during normal locomotion. Such model is able for predicting thermal and mechanical energy liberation under submaximal activation, muscle fiber type, and varying contractile conditions, typically observed in human motion. Future formulations of the indeterminate biomechanical problem, solved through the physiological criteria of minimization of metabolical cost of transport during gait, should consider the role of muscle groups in coordinating multijoint motion. Such an approach is presented in part II of the paper.

To examine factors associated to prevention, STI/HIV medical attention and respect for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) among youth in Central American border communities. Materials and methods. Cross-sectional analysis of a non-probabilistic sample (n=716) in border communities with and without preventive and medical care STI/ HIV interventions. Variables associated with having access to information, respect to PLWHA; HIV/STD tests, condom use and medical care were identified. Results. Youth in communities with interventions have higher levels of information regarding STI/HIV, attitudes of respect toward PLWHA (94.1 vs. 75.3%) and access to HIV tests (50.8 vs. 14.7%). 52% of youngsters had intercourse. Condom use was higher among those who participated in preventive actions (60.5 vs. 50.9%) and those with international mobility (70.6 vs. 51.9%). 8.8% had STI symptoms; only 55% sought medical attention. Conclusion. Community interventions are associated with higher levels of information, respect for the rights of PLWHA and access to tests among youth; condom use is related to direct participation in program interventions.
