Though Many Unbelievers Deny The Despair And Prefer To Deceive Themselves, One Influential Author Views Self-deception As Fundamental To The Human Condition And Non-culpable. However, Christians Must Expose Self- Deception As Evil—a Product And Species Of Sin—seek To Root It Out Of Themselves, And Lead Others To The Hope Of Dealing With Life Truthfully. This Essay Helps Christian Apologists By Utilizing The Analysis Of Self- Deception By Greg Bahnsen And Shows That The Older Accounts Of Blaise Pascal And Søren Kierkegaard Accord Well With Bahnsen’s Approach. Guillaume Farel's (1489–1565) published prayers—including a prayer of 1541 that is herein studied... more Guillaume Farel's (1489–1565) published prayers—including a prayer of 1541 that is herein studied for the first time in modern scholarship—reveal a robust Trinitarian spirituality, contrary to assertions in recent scholarship.
François Lambert, a French Franciscan monk who adopted the doctrines of Reform already in 1522, w... more François Lambert, a French Franciscan monk who adopted the doctrines of Reform already in 1522, was appointed by Philip of Hesse in 1527 as one of two founding professors of theology at the University of Marburg. I examine Lambert's polemics against the scholastics who preceded him, and note that his polemics notwithstanding, he had recourse to various scholastic motifs in his writings. The university regulations which he was involved in drafting reveal that in that time the "scholastici" could have their knowledge tested each Saturday either by the more traditional logic-driven scholastic disputation or the newer rhetoric-driven humanist declamation.

This situation has now been rectified with a massive and detailed study dedicated to Caroli himself that seeks to rehabilitate the man's image.
