In Casa Caracol we want you to feel at home! But not just any home! We have made one for you that is welcoming, fun, cosy and inclusive. This has been the aim and passion of the owner since the beginning of the Caracol in 2003. Since then the hostel has evolved and grown with new ideas and zones (the next being a new coworking space).

All the beds are bespoke, solid and comfortable, each room now has its own private bathroom and A/C. We have been constantly improving, but at the same time take great care of the “heart and soul”, the “feeling and the vibe”: elements that make Casa Caracol special.

TOP DECK

For many this is the most beautiful part of the caracol. The plant-filled rooftop chill out was inspired by years of tropical wanderings by the owner, complete with hammocks, a pop up bar and summer concerts.

Cadiz and its
neighborhoods

“Yo no tengo más paisaje, que a Cádiz con su oleaje de ropa blanca tendía”

This is the neighbourhood where the caracol is located, famous as a hot bed for flamenco. It is the arrival point to the old city, which is connected from here to the outside world by sea and to the rest of Spain by rail, both just 5 mins from Casa Caracol.

Here in the oldest part if Cadiz you will find Casa Piratas our sister house sandwiched between the baroque Cathedral and the old cathedral the Santa Cruz church (older, smaller but a splendid heritage of the moorish days). There is also a roman amphitheatre and a medieval city gate guarding this “barrio” evocative of the passing of ages.

Plaza de Mina A public square full of beautiful exotic tropical trees giving wonderful shade to surrounding terraces. Casa Mina is just off this square. It was an old walled garden bequeathed to the city in 1838 by Franciscanos of the convent San Fransisco.

It evolved as a simple fishing neighbourhood. The andaluz taverns and bars serve griddled razor clams and great seafood, fine sherry wines in a bustling environment. This is where Carnaval is lived with intensity each year in its picturesque plazas.

Hosts the monument to the 1812 constitution in Plaza España a wonderful newly pedestrianised plaza with its spectacular house of 4 towers.

The Plaza de San Antonio is a large quadrangular space and one of the nerve centers of the city. Originally it was known by the name of Campo de Jara.
