chocolate_icing Sorry for leaving a comment on another post, asking how to post my own earlier. The pencil icon wasn't showing up at first, so I thought there maybe a different way of posting a new topic here than in other communities.Anyway, we're in the process of selling our house. So, in order to keep it clean, since our cats both have diabetes and have been peeing everywhere, my 'mama' has locked them in the laundry room! She goes down regularly to feed them, give them their medicine and freshen their water, but because the room is small, their litters are right beside their food dishes, they don't have much room to walk around, ext. ... She keeps promising she'll let them up on weekends but never does :( I think, it's really cruel of her to be doing what she's doing. They're getting up there in age(ten and thirteen) and, by doing this, I feel, like she's dwindling their quality of life by not allowing them to see the light of day *sigh* I've tried going down to rescue them, but my 'nana' lives downstairs and, since she feels the same way as my 'mama' about keeping the house spotless, would most definitely "tattle" on me. I can't risk what she'd do, if she found out I'd brought them back upstairs, either, as I've already been taken away by the cops(I called them once, while my 'nana' was slapping me around, thinking they would take her away, but they took me instead) HELP! What can I possibly do that I haven't done already??Current Mood: anxiousanxious (2 Meows | Meow!)
Cat with a bleach fetish..... wtf? {x-posted} Aug. 3rd, 2007 @ 02:51 pm
amethyst_heart One of my cats is OBSESSED with the smell of bleach. After any time I use bleach - cleaning, laundry, whatever - she always comes up to me and starts rubbing on and licking my hands. Now, I know she's not going to be poisoned or anything because, of course, I always wash my hands very thoroughly after using bleach or any other potentially toxic product, but of course, it's hard to get rid of the smell completely, and for some reason, it drives her bonkers. Is this some common cat trait I don't know about? Do I have any reasons to be concerned?Current Mood: confusedconfused (4 Meows | Meow!)

daisy_patch Have any of you ever had to deal with aggression issues with your cat? When my neutered tabby was about a year old, he started becoming very aggressive. If he gets angry, he will attack me and bite my hands, legs, whatever he can get ahold of. This often happens if I make him do something he doesn't want to do. He also "stalks" me in the evenings, if he's wanting to be fed. His times of aggression seem to be mostly early morning (5-6 am) or evenings (9-10).I've gotten to the point where I'm actually a little bit afraid of him during these times of day.He bit my hand/wrist about a month ago, and it caused so much pain that I had to go to an urgent care center.I mentioned this to my vet once, and she said some nonsense about how I need to spend more time playing with him, etc. But that's not the problem. The behavior can definitely be traced to times he's pissed at me about something.Any ideas?(1 Meow | Meow!)

Hi everyone, and happy new year!So lately my kitty, Luna, has gotten into the habit of peeing - and once pooping - outside the litter box. The only time she's ever done this in the past is when the box isn't cleaned regularly, and thats definitely not the problem this time.It started right after the last time I completely changed the litter and washed out the tray, which I hadn't done in a while, though I've definitely done it plenty of times before and not had a problem. But I thought maybe she was suspicious of the brand new litter because it didn't have her smell already. But then she did use the box a couple times intermittently, but has gone outside it at least 3 or 4 times now. Then just now, as I was cleaning up her latest pee on the carpet - RIGHT next to the litter box - it occurred to me that maybe she's gotten to big for it. It's one of those igloo ones, with a rounded top, so she crawls inside it, and she's a pretty big cat. Not that she's grown recently, but...I dunno, maybe she's having a hard time maneuvering inside it, and would prefer a bigger box, or one without a top? I've taken the top off for now and am hoping that will encourage her to go back to using it, but has anyone had experiences with a cat who wouldn't use the box because it was too small or restrictive? Or any other suggestions? I know about all the no-go products and such, but I'm dirt poor right now and have more urgent things on my shopping list for my next paycheck (like cat food - we're dangerously low), so anything that costs money is really not an option right now. Much thanks in advance!Jan. 2nd, 2007 @ 07:15 pm(2 Meows | Meow!)
