FIC: Mr. Right Next Door (J2, NC-17, AU) MASTER POST

Title: Mr. Right Next Door
Author: causeways
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Word Count: 30,195
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and all other people mentioned herein belong to themselves.
Notes: Written for spn_harlequin. Additional notes at the end of the fic. Posted in five parts. Edited to add: Russian translation by Kryssa now available here (you will need to have or create an account to access it).

Original Prompt: Small-town elementary schoolteacher Kim Cassidy -- gorgeous and sweet -- had fallen for a crook while on a cruise, without a clue who he really was. Now she was home, waiting for her prince, and secret agent Nick Callahan's task was to track her every move.

Watching a gorgeous blonde all day? No problem. But in small-town Georgia, hiding was impossible, and he and Kim became friends. Keeping the truth from this kind, pretty woman was getting harder. Then a kiss -- a passionate one -- complicated things even more.

He would still protect her. The question was, from whom?

Summary: Small-town middle school teacher Jared Padalecki had fallen for a criminal while on a cruise, without a clue who she really was. Now he was home, waiting for her to contact him again, and undercover cop Jensen Ackles' job was to track Padalecki's every move.

This whole LJ/6A thing is giving me an even bigger headache than I already have, but WHATEVER. I'm going to combat it with porn! By which I mean, I got the edits on my spn_harlequin fic finished earlier than expected, so I'll be unlocking those entries and posting the master list as soon as I finish crosslinking between the five parts. 30,195 words, you guys. YAY. \o/

(I'm causeways over on greatestjournal, too, by the way. I'm just namesquatting at the moment, though, and I'm really hoping not to have to leave LJ -- although if I do, I'm holding out hope for something like fandom_flies coming together. *crosses fingers*)

All right, dudes. I promised you an excerpt from my spn_harlequin fic after I rewrote the first scene, and well. I kind of rewrote it. It might still change before I post the final fic, but anyway, here you go.

The fic is still untitled, but it's Jared/Jensen, rated NC-17, and the adapted version of the prompt is:

Small-town middle school teacher Jared Padalecki had fallen for a criminal while on a cruise, without a clue who she really was. Now he was home, waiting for her to contact him again, and undercover cop Jensen Ackles' job was to track Padalecki's every move.

( Jared loved Saturdays.Collapse )

I'm alive! And back in the States! I got back around one a.m. on Tuesday morning after twenty-four solid hours of traveling -- fun! It really wasn't bad; I spent a whole lot more time sleeping than I would have expected, and didn't even get around to reading rei_c's fic yet. I did finish Deathly Hallows, though, and also handwrote some first-time Wincest, which I'm going to go type up right after I post this.

Speaking of fic, my spn_harlequin fic is DONE. I promised myself I'd finish it before I left Germany, and I did! So yeah, 29,397 words of MiddleSchoolTeacher!Jared/UndercoverCop!Jensen coming your way sometime after August first. :D! I've got to rewrite the first scene -- Jared's characterization there is kind of wonky at the moment -- but after I do I'll post a snippet.

It is SO NICE to be done with school, omg. I'm kind of bummed to have left Germany, and weird little things are throwing me off (The light switches are the wrong size! The streets are too wide and the shops are only one story high instead of three at least!) but for the most part I think I'll be just fine. I kind of wish I'd had a little longer to just hang out in Freiburg instead of having the summer semester end on Friday and leaving right away on Monday, but mostly I'm happy to be back.

Hope you guys are having a good day! ♥ Oh, and hey: MERRY CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

Evil!Sam part two is off with xtinethepirate being betaed, Jared and Jensen have officially met in my spn_harlequin fic, and I just spent the past three and a half hours cooking an enormous dinner and smoking hookah with some friends. Life is pretty damned good. \o/

But hey, question for you guys: How do you rate your fics? Do you do it by the MPAA system or do you just go with Explicit / Non-Explicit? Do you do something completely different?

I've been using the MPAA system, but it occurs to me that my idea of what constitutes R and what constitutes NC-17 is kind of arbitrary. I was vaguely working under the assumption that NC-17 meant explicit buttsex, and R was everything up to but not including said explicit buttsex but I'm pretty sure that's something I just made up a while back. Is there actually a rule there that I've just never run across? *is curious*

Also, I can't seem to stop listening to "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" by Panic! At The Disco. I'm totally a summer behind on this. WTF, self.

I've got a couple of friends in town for . . . thirty-six hours total, starting tomorrow morning at 6:40 (ouch!) so I'll probably be scarce around these parts between then and late Sunday night. Don't write too much good fic in the meantime, okay, fandom? My to-read folder is plenty full enough as it is. ♥
