cawthra park bitches! (original) (raw)

Warning-warning- drama rant.

Okay, today Mr Hubbard seemed to be in a really bad mood. And word is that the other class was like, thorwing shoes at him? [For all non-Cawthra LJ people, we love him, it's a respect issue, in fun, not like, teacher abuse.]

Okay. You know what? No, Mr Hubbard does not have as much authority as Ms Mac did, nor will he ever. No, Mr Hubbard is not organized. No, he's not a particularly good teacher. He gives way too much leeway on performances, he's not formal enough, he uses the word "guys" way too much, his comments contradict each other. He marks hard and doesn't tell you what you did wrong, he's afraid of students, and he can;t tell what'll offend people, so he won't give good constructive criticism. No, he's not Ms Mac, or Mr Swyer, or Zeggy.

But fucking hell, that gives you NO right to throw goddamn shoes at him.

Maybe it was in fun, I don't know, but he is a *TEACHER.* He is our teacher. And even if he's not the greatest one ever, can one person say that they don't like him? Because we all do. For all his "I'm Jon Hallis in 10 years" American Eagle-ness, he really does care about us, he really does like teaching drama, he really wants to be friends with us and help us, even if he can't do it right.

He doesn't deserve this shit... I mean, he puts up with us 24/7. We are loud, we are rude. We do soft-core porn in class [inside jokes=P], we get all the art teachers fucking mad, we run around and do shit all when we're supposed to be doing exams. We use rehearsal time to fuck around. We curtain people, we break CD players, and we basically take advantage of all Hubbard's nice-ness and the whole drama program.AND ALL HE DOES IS DEFEND US. Remember Mr Jensen? How many times have I heard "drama's becoming a joke" this semester, including from me? Well, why the hell is that? Because of us. No, Hubbard's not like The Teacher With The Most Authority In Cawthra. But he's new. He's never taught before. He wants us to like him and he wants us to learn, and it's FUCKING STUPID that people take such advantage of that. If your exam is on Monday, IT'S ON MONDAY. Not the next day you "feel" like going. This is a DRAMA program, and Hubbard is in charge of us. And if we have to help him a little bit, that's what we should be doing. When he talks, we should listen. When he tells us dates, we should agree. And if he drives us crazy, we should explain why, instead of loudly bitching [although I'm guilty] because that probably doesn't make him feel very good.

We have TWO WEEKS LEFT with him. Possibly the only two we will have.

Why dont we make him feel like a teacher?

On a side note, if we're still doing this chair thing, Allison, I can collect people's notes, if you want. If someone else can get the chair. =)
