‘Red hat’ ceremony of Cardinal Advincula reset to June 18 (original) (raw)
Cardinal Jose Advincula will formally receive the “red hat” and ring of office at a ceremony in the central Philippine city of Roxas next week.
Church-run Radio Veritas reported Wednesday that local health and church authorities agreed to hold the event on June 18, with a limited congregation.
Papal nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown will lead the ceremony at 3:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral.
Originally set on May 28, the bestowal of the insignia was moved to June 8 because Archbishop Brown had to undergo 14-day quarantine after a US trip.
On June 5, the Capiz archdiocese postponed the event again due to the rising cases of Covid-19 infections in the city.
It will be the cardinal’s last big event in the archdiocese, which he served for the last 9 years before leaving for Manila for his new mission.
Cardinal Advincula will be installed as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila on June 24.
