In order to provide current and future teachers with a practical model for integrating instruction, this paper explores the benefits and challenges of integrating art into literacy. In addition, this paper provides examples of an art-integrated unit, which is taught in collaboration of a teaching artist and English Language Arts teachers. The methods used to explore the benefits of art integration demonstrated that art integration could produce more learning possibilities to all students. Findings indicated that an integrated curriculum makes learning more meaningful and engaging for all students. This result suggest that English Language Arts teachers at High School for Advanced Math and Science find art making in literature to be very helpful for the students learning process.

However, during the Minimalist movement, the cube form dominated the art form. Artists such as Donald Judd, Tony Smith, and Carl Andre utilized the cube as the main form in their works. The cube became the centerpiece in Minimalist art, creating the illusion that artists were imitating one another. The repeated usage of this form made critics question if the objects they made were art or not. This form appeared in almost every Minimalist composition, helping to underscore them as objects rather than sculptures because artists were more concerned in the creation of a form that avoided the appearance of fine art. Nevertheless, the originality, complexity, and uniqueness of Minimalist compositions proved that artists adopted the cube form and elevated it to an incomparable art movement. In this paper I will argue that the cube became the main focal point in Minimalist movement for two reasons: its mathematical properties and their physical manifestation in architectural space, and its lack of any reference to the human form.

Chinese porcelains were recognized for their unique design, called “Blue and White.” The influence of the “Blue and White” Chinese porcelain transformed the patterns of traditional Turkish designs in profound ways. Turkish designs evolved into decorative patterns that clearly show a relationship between Turkish pottery and Chinese “Blue and white” designs. An excellent example is, “Dish Depicting Two Birds among Flowering Plants” which provides visible evidence of the cultural relationship between China and the Islamic World, demonstrating that there was a design adaptation rather than an imitation.
