The study analyses waste generation and management in the EU enlargement countries today and in s... more The study analyses waste generation and management in the EU enlargement countries today and in scenarios up to the year 2020. It covers municipal waste and selected industrial wastes (namely wastes from coal mining, coal-fired power plants and the iron and steel industry). The study is part of the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) work on prospective analysis of structural indicators in the EU with a special focus on environment-related indicators in the enlargement countries. The overall purpose is to support European Commission policies on sustainable development by exploring how the main driving forces in the areas of technology, industry and the economy may affect structural indicators up to 2020.
