Last week, we welcomed a host of representatives within the Norwegian Cruise Industry, including the State Secretary for Environment Sigrun Aasland, on board MSC Euribia in Haugesund, Norway, where we discussed ongoing environmental efforts, followed by a ship tour showcasing the environmental features of our flagship. It was a pleasure to welcome all in attendance, representing industry associations, port authorities, labour unions, local government and Norwegian MPs. The engagement centred on increasingly relevant topics, covering MSC Cruises' current approach to sustainability, regulatory updates within the world of cruising, exciting initiatives like our newly introduced OptiCruise itinerary optimising tool, as developed in conjunction with CHEK project, and our net zero emissions commitments. As part of our partnership with Formula 1, we’ve been offering our crew members the chance to experience the thrill of a #GrandPrix firsthand with a ‘Perfect Pit Stop’ photo competition. Congratulations to winner Maja Tovirac, a Shop Seller aboard MSC Fantasia, who captured the essence of a “Perfect Pit Stop” in her winning photo. This earned her an all-expenses-paid trip to the F1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 at the stunning Baku City Circuit! Maja was joined by her colleague, Laura Micaela Sosa, a Boutique Manager on MSC Fantasia, showing the true friendships that form across our team and making the experience even more unforgettable as they soaked in the adrenaline of the race weekend. Their experience was full of adrenaline and positive energy, including a highlight paddock tour where they witnessed pit crews working in perfect synchrony, changing tyres in under three seconds. So many congratulations to our colleagues at our sister, luxury ocean travel brand, Explora Journeys, for taking delivery of their second ship, EXPLORA II! As Explora Journeys continues to redefine luxury travel, EXPLORA II has been delivered at the FINCANTIERI shipyard in Sestri Ponente, Italy, and was received by the Executive Chairman of the Cruise Division of MSC Group, Pierfrancesco Vago. And it was a triple celebration, as the keel laying ceremony for LNG-powered EXPLORA III and first steel cutting for EXPLORA IV also took place! Today, we celebrated a triple milestone! ✨ At the FINCANTIERI shipyard in Sestri Ponente near Genoa, Italy, we marked the delivery of EXPLORA II, ready for her Maiden Mediterranean Journey.
