Next-Gen Farming, Rooted in Tradition 🌱Jeff Rowe is putting regenerative agriculture to the test on his family farm in Illinois. This year, the fifth-generation farmer and Syngenta Group CEO, is adding a powerful new variable: biologicals. Biologicals are inspired by, or directly derived from nature - like seaweed from Arctic fjords — that can help boost plant resilience, manage pests and diseases, and improve yield. This isn’t just innovation for innovation’s sake. It’s a real-world experiment with a real-world impact — on the future of agriculture and global food security. Follow along as we share updates from this living lab throughout the year. Want the full cinema experience? The Fall Armyworm: Small but Devastating. 🐛 This tiny moth is one of agriculture’s biggest threats—capable of destroying up to 50% of a harvest and responsible for 18 million tons of lost corn every year across 70+ countries. That food could feed millions. Climate change is significantly impacting the fall armyworm’s spread. Rising temperatures accelerate the pest's development, shorten its life cycle, and expand its potential range to higher latitudes and elevations. As one of the most invasive pest species on the planet, the fall armyworm kicks off our new series spotlighting the insects threatening global food security. “Pests in their native range are often regulated by predators, parasites, and diseases. However, when introduced to new regions, those natural controls are often absent.” ~ Russell Slater, Global Technical Manager, Syngenta. But there’s hope. Thanks to cutting-edge agricultural science and innovation, farmers are better equipped than ever to defend their crops and strengthen food systems around the world. 🌍🌽 👉 Swipe to learn how we’re fighting back against this crop-munching menace.#Agriculture #FoodSecurity #Innovation #PestControl #FallArmyworm #Sustainability -

Can large-scale seed production be a part of the climate solution? We believe so—and we’re proving that it can. Partnering with 110,000 seed production farmers in 19 countries, we’re embedding regenerative agriculture practices into contracted seed production hectares to reduce environmental impacts and help restore ecosystems around the world. Here are 5 ways it’s making a difference: • Restoring soil health • Rebuilding biodiversity • Helping farmers manage their irrigation • Cutting emissions • Scaling global impact through encouraging commercial hectare adoption too For soybean seed production in the USA alone, more than 150 square miles of land – about half the land area of New York City – now uses regenerative tilling practices. Learn more about how we’re embedding regenerative agriculture into seed production fields globally in the comments below. #SustainableAgriculture #RegenerativeAg #AgInnovation #SoilHealth -

We’re enjoying Sunday roasts and Wimbledon’s strawberries and cream as our Crops and Cultures series lands in the United Kingdom! 🍲 🍓 The U.K. is a major exporter and importer of high-value, consumer-centric agricultural and farming-related products. British dairy producers sell to more than 135 countries, with annual exports crossing one million tons in recent years, according to the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board. We’re supporting British farmers with advanced wheat and barley varieties designed to thrive across regions and unpredictable seasons. Our winter wheat variety, SY Cheer, provides best-in-class grain quality and strong yields due to its robust disease resistance and ability to efficiently assimilate protein in the grain. Farmers can’t control the weather, but they can choose how to respond to it. ⚡️ Crops like wheat, soy, and corn often show early signs of drought stress, and without timely intervention, these plants will wither, deprived of the nutrients they need to thrive. But what if we could make these crops more resilient to drought? This World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, we're sharing how new technologies can make crops more resilient with the power of science. Our agronomists have observed that certain classes of fungicides can improve the yield of these crops, both in the presence of biotic stress caused by pathogens and of abiotic stress from environmental conditions like heat or drought. In these sample images, untreated corn shows stunted kernel development, with dry, discoloured silks—all signs of water stress in pollination. By contrast, the treated crop appears fuller and healthier. This is what resilience looks like in action. 💪 Want to find out more? Farmers worldwide lose billions to invasive species that, if left unchecked, can hitchhike, proliferate, and disrupt the delicate balance of our agro-ecosystems, where every organism plays a part. These losses aren’t just abstract—they translate into real profit out of growers’ pockets, crops lost, and communities at risk. We’ve asked our experts and scientists at Syngenta about the most invasive pests challenging farmers today, and we’re about to launch a deep-dive series into the damage they can cause. But first, we want to test your knowledge: What percentage of global crops is lost to these invasive creatures every year? Let’s discuss their impact in the comments, and stay tuned for our upcoming series! 👇#Agriculture #CropProtection #Pests

“Let’s talk about innovation at scale,” said Alexandra Brand, our EVP of Sustainability, Corporate Affairs & Transformation, during The Economist Impact events 5th Annual Sustainability conference in New York this week. In a conversation with The Economist’s Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran, Alexandra highlighted how Syngenta is driving agricultural innovation in R&D and on the farm. 🔬 “We're using computational calculation power for designing molecules, for defining how they fit to the respective protein, for defining how we will synthesize them, and for defining the toxicology profile.” 🌾 This data-driven knowledge feeds directly into farm management systems: Farmers can combine it with soil, water, and weather data — and that’s where the power of AI comes in. Faster innovation, bigger scale. The event brought together global sustainability advocates — reinforcing how collaboration and technology are reshaping agriculture. #EconSustainability #InnovationAtScale #AgTech #Sustainability
