The Good, The Bad, and the Unwearable. (original) (raw)
So, because I fangirl scorpysue like a mofo, I was interested to read about her adventures in bridesmaiding for Another Woman ("Who is this 'best friend'? Is she prettier than me?").
Especially the part about the god-awful dresses. To me, it just seems obvious that if you're making someone fork out SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS for a dress, they should at least like the goddamn thing. You give the bridesmaids a say about it. Maybe shortlist three or dresses that you're happy about, then let them choose. But don't force it on them.
I think I was spoiled by my own experience, being my sister's bridesmaid. The dresses were cheap. Like, $75 cheap. And nice, and simple, and elegant. And one could wear them again. You don't need to make the BM dresses all elaborate, in fact, it's best if you don't. Oh, and Sara; diamantes? Gag me with a spoon.
People's thoughts? Do YOU like paying hundreds of dollars for a shit dress you'll never wear again?
