_7:09 pm_[agsaunders] | Old Gang Graffiti and other strange inquiries If this isn't allowed, go ahead & delete it, but I was curious... ... is there a warlords' landmark still left on the ghettos somewhere in the chicago area? I assume that they're an old gang that lurked there ages back and have probably been taken over by the bloods & crips and other modern gangs. I saw this particular landmark in a Marvin Gaye video, "what's goin' on?" Furthermore, are there landmarks from other old, nostalgic gangs leftover from ages ago in 1970s. It reminds me so much of the movie, 'the warriors,' that I can't help but think of it as classic. (Comment on this) |

_4:45 pm_[fntm] | Hey guys! I'm from the burbs (Highland Park, to be exact) and never really had a chance to hang out downtown. My Canadian boyfriend is coming to spend winter break with me, and I'd love to take him into the city and show him around. Thing is, I don't know where to take him aside from all the touristy places! Would any of you be able to suggest some awesome places for a geeky couple to hang out? Restaurants, galleries, shops--anything, just throw some suggestions at me!This might help: I visited San Francisco a few years back, and found a store that I absolutely fell in love with called Super 7. I'm hoping Chicago has its own version. Anyone seen anything like it? Let me know! (14 Comments |Comment on this) |

_5:41 pm_[magnetic_vagina] | We live in such a big city... Hey guys.I'm a college student in the south-loop, looking for sweet places to visit all over Chicago. Preferably hole-in-the-wall type joints... quirky places with a lot of character. Restaraunts, bookstores, hang out spots... if you guys could leave some of your favorite places, that would be an immense help. L stops and bus routes would be helpful too! Thanks! _2:28 pm_[racheljean04] | Support Darfur refugees in Chicago Hi everyone, I work for the American Refugee Committee in Chicago, and this year we're holding a fundraising luncheon in support of the refugee camps we run in Darfur and other places around the world. Speakers will include ARC's country director from Sudan and John Prendergast, a Senior Adviser on Africa at the International Crisis Group in DC. Barack Obama is an honorary co-sponsor and may show up as well. The luncheon is being held November 3rd at the Hilton Chicago, and tickets are $150 each (with at least 90% of that going directly to refugee support). If you're interested in learning more about what's going on in Darfur and supporting refugee camps there, please email me and I'll get you an invitation. Thanks for your support!
