Any thoughts on White Wolf revamping Demon for the "New" World of Darkness this fall? It's said to be based on the "God Machine" story from the 2004 World of Darkness core book. One developer said it would be a game of "gnostic espionage", which is certainly intriguing.Cross-posted to gamerchristians.

I think we would be remiss if no one was to commemorate the passing of Gary Gygax, the creator of the first modern RPG, Dungeons & Dragons. He opened the floodgates to the whole category of social games of the imagination and 4 decades later we all know how diverse it has become.I can say that D&D was where my gaming started, as a very little kid: my older brothers were into it before me and just let me join as a donkey. That was probably their joke on me, but I didn't know it then; I just tried to be the most heroic darn donkey there ever was. I started to create a new world at the age of 8, and in very few years I was running the games with my brothers and friends; it was my first way of telling a story to others. 20 years later that world I created is much richer (though on the shelf) as I begin to pursue publication in my own career as a writer.I always liked Gary's name (it sounded like it came out of a fantasy story itself) but I had no idea what a charming man he was until I heard this remembrance of him on NPR.Well... thanks, Gary.

Wow! What a wide world the Lord has introduced me to. Praise God! I think I should clarify something. With regards to L, it's not that he's excercizing liberties that I don't agree with. It's that he's actually going against what is commanded in the Bible. Let me repeat that: L is going against the commands in the Bible. When the people who are not saved have to insist that he clean up his filthy language, he is not representing Christ. That isn't judgement, that's fact. And yes, there are Christians from all over, praise God, but our walk is about striving to be like Christ. So, regardless of whether someone comes from South Africa or Northern Quebec, there should be similarities in their character and who they are growing to become. When I talk about witnessing, I don't mean shoving the gospel down someone's throat. I mean living my life according to godly principles everyday, so that those who are called will see. Francis Assisi said it best " Witness all the time. If necessary use words."

Hello, I'm a 31 year old single female who prayed to God about two years ago for friends. I did this walking down the street right next to a gaming shop that hosts a gaming day every Saturday. Two months later I ended up there...About nine months later one of the friends I made at that shop lead me to Christ. I love how God works :) So I'm a Christian and a gamer. The thing is...I've been trying to witness to my friends at the game shop. We have this guy who comes there- we'll call him L for anonimity's sake. L says he is a minister, but he makes such a bad presentation of Christ, I'm not even sure he's saved. I feel as though he's actively trying to undermine my witness, and it's really a scary thought. The Lord is sovreign in all situations, including this one. So, I write now to ask for prayer for the situation. God bless you all.

Thanks for the welcome folks. I do appreciate it.So, does anyone go to many gaming or SF/gaming conventions? Is anyone going to Con Carolinas this weekend in Charlotte, NC? If so, let me know and I'll try to get up w/ you and say "Hi".And just to liven things up a little... ::puts on AD&D DM hat::OK, everyone who want to participate in a little silliness, roll a D20 for a spot check at + 1. Tell me if you roll a 10 or higher....and tell me who is in this party and what race/class/level you are (IE, Fred - 2nd level Halfling Paladin)(Note: this is a low level random encounter in an open field between your party and...something)

Greetings fellow gamers,I just wanted to say "Hi, I'm the new guy". A pagan friend and fellow gamer forwarded this community address to me when she happened to see it. My name is Bill M from NC and I play AD&D 3.5 mostly. Currently I am in two campaigns - one in Greyhawk where I'm playing a NG Gnoll Ranger/Cleric (4/6) of Elhonna (see my Gnoll avatar - that's Daggarr) and a new campaign where I'm a 1st level Battle Sorceror. I just finished a 7 year campaign where my Cleric of Pelor (Elwin) reached 15th level and the campaign actually reached a conclusion and didn't just fizzle out.I also play Star Fleet Battles and Giant Monster Rampage when I can (mostly at Conventions and I do at least 1 or 2 gaming Cons a year). I'm also involved in helping run our local SF/F/Gaming con (Stellarcon) and I have worked w/a number of other area Cons over the years.I've been a Christian since I was a child and re-dedicated my life to the Lord when I was 15. And I've been gaming on and off pretty regularly since I was 18.I see that not much has happened in the community in a while. Are things OK or is everybody just busy rolling dice?

Greetings, my fellow gamers! My friend and I who have been working on a campaign together have been writing the account of our campaign down in story format, as though it were a regular novel. We are quite interested in posting it for constructive criticism, but know not wherewe ought to do thus. Would anybody happen to have any recommendations as to where to post our D&D ficton? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly!~Cherie
