Ouch... [13 Jan 2010|01:30am]
Okay. I weighed at the Dr Friday, and weghed 285lbs. I have Fibromyalgia and degenerative Osteoartritis, and it hurts to get up and down from the toilet, let alone try to walk or do aerobics, so my question is, how can I work out? I take all my meds regularly, and have even tried taking Aleve/Advil before working out, but i'm still in terrible pain. Any help?

Blah. [15 Dec 2009|07:22pm]
I guess i'm mainly posting for some support/encouragement, today I went to the dr for a MRI w/contrst on my back, and after injecting me with the dye, the lady tries to slide me into the MRI machine and we both realize that I won't fit. I weighed in at 283 at the dr's office the other day :( My fiance blames all of my medical conditions on my weight...or at least a huge contribution to them...(I have Rapid-cycling Bipolar II disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, a Panic disorder, Fibromyalgia, and Rheumatoid Arthritis) I just feel really terrible about myself today :(

A couple size-positive links... [24 Sep 2009|12:33pm]
1. I'm a "Kids in the Hall" fan, and I noticed the other day that they'd posted a short video interview with Paul Bellini, the silent character from their skits who walks around in nothing but a towel. He talks about being a fat kid and how he got somewhat liberated from body woes by being repeatedly taped in nothing but a towel....2. I'm doing some research on the Detroit Derby Girls because I will likely end up interviewing them for a newspaper story soon. I ran across a slideshow (I can't find the exact one now) that showed them in action, and I was happy that they include a pretty wide range of body types from thin to chunky, all looking strong and fierce.

[01 Jun 2009|02:48am]
I can't ever say that i've been a thin girl. Even in the 5th grade, I weighed a140lbs. My main size throught highschool was a size 16-18, and once I graduated I was considerably less active. No more dance team, nomore marching band, and I have a lot more time on my hands to eat and snack, and my freshman year in college, I met my fiance. I was even less active and a whole lot more stressed due to certain things happening in life. Then in 2005, I was a size 16-18, I got pregnant, and lost the baby at 23 weeks, 2 days. After this, I went into a greater depression, alongside just having moved to a city 100 plus miles away from my family, never having been away from home or my mother for more than 3 weeks vacation.Over the years, I have gotten use to being a big girl, even proud of my voluptuousness, but still when I looked at my naked self in the mirror, I was disgusted at what I saw. Now, as brought up in this post, http://community.livejournal.com/100pounds2lose/5322479.html?style=mine, my fiance has given me (as of a couple of months ago) an ultimatum to lose about 100lbs before our August 14, 2010 wedding. I knew being overweight was bad for my health, and blood pressure/cholesterol issues as well as heart problems run well within my family. Now I have a support group of a lot of ladies at a community called 100pounds2lose who have given me not only good advice, but hope that I can do lose the weight to the best of my abilities, and that my fiance saying that he wanted me to lose the weight because of my health and because he was "tired of my gut flapping around." That hurt to hear, and every time he talks about my weight, it brings me to tears and I feel so unloved its unbelivable, but maybe it's just what I need to get going...maybe. At this point, I want to do this for me, but for him even more. I want him to be happy with me, not just me with myself...I'm stuck and so topsy turvy on this. Since I just got a new job, I guess the first thing i'll do is join a gym, and find a weight loss plan.

EW.com: Fat is not disgusting [08 May 2009|01:45pm]
Jean Bentley does a really good EW blog on the use of the word "disgusting" when talking about fat people.Excerpt:There are plenty of things that are disgusting: maggots, the sticky floor at the movie theater, brussels sprouts. But fat people are not disgusting. What is disgusting is that someone's entire worth as a person can be assessed by a number on a scale, and that that idea is being promoted by people who have struggled with weight themselves. The word ''disgusting'' in relation to someone's validity as a human being (even your own) just doesn't sit well with me, and I'm somewhat disgusted to hear it being thrown around that way in popular media.Direct link to the EW blog entry
