Meetups No official meetup this Friday. Things have been insane at work (I was flying solo yet again last night) and I'm too busy to really concentrate on anything. I'm going to try to get things moving again in the fall.
If anyone else wants to set something up, go right ahead. And I'm always up for getting together with anyone on an individual basis.

July Meetup This month's meetup will be Friday July 14th at the Barnes & Noble coffeeshop at Newport on the Levee, starting at 7 pm instead of 6.
If someone has a better idea for a location, leave a comment. We're open to suggestions.

July Meetup This month's meetup will most likely be July 14th, the second Friday of the month. Unless I get stuck working Friday again, but I don't think that'll happen. Barnes & Noble coffeeshop at Newport on the Levee at 6 pm.

June Meetup Unless someone suggests otherwise, the meetup will be at the coffeeshop in the Levee Friday at 6 as usual. But if anyone's got another idea, I'm up for it.

This Friday A *SLIGHT* TANGENT
I know we're not meeting this Friday at the Levee ... however at Newport on the Levee this Friday there's going to be a great band playing. They're called Tickled Pink and they'll be playing from 6pm-10pm. It's free (just look for free parking behind the flood wall).
Info on the band:
http://cincymusic.com/artists/view.php?id=3258
Tickled Pink does a great original song called Caveman (among other originals). The bassist (who sings Caveman) has a new CD out and they'll be playing songs from that CD as well.
They're also playing at the Great American Ballpark Sat September 9th after the game (5pm)! That performance is also free (just pay for Reds tickets and parking).
BACK ON TOPIC NOW
Have we decided where we're meeting NEXT Friday????

Not sure if there's going to be a meetup at the Levee tonight. $5 for parking and only staying an hour is getting old. And it's not exactly a centralized point for those who have shown up.
If anyone wants to come down, leave a comment by 4 or so, or we're going to get together somewhere else.

Rescheduled Meetup Since last week's meet was scrapped because of the weather, we're trying again this week. Friday in the Barnes and Noble coffeeshop at Newport on the Levee at 6 pm.
Would anyone be interested in getting together during one of the off weeks? I can probably swing a weekday as long as I know a day or two in advance.
Oh, and I have a car now. If anyone needs a ride, let me know.

First Friday Again Once again, the meetup is this Friday in the Barnes and Noble coffeeshop at Newport on the Levee at 6 pm .
It's possible I might be running a little late, I'm going to be out looking at cars (and just maybe buying one) on Friday, but I'm dependent on my ride's schedule. I don't think it'll be a problem, though. Worst case, I should be there by about 6:30.

Trademarks I have a huge section in my LJ about trademarks. Unless you don't mind someone stealing your comic book name and then telling you that you can't use it anymore, it's a must read. And I recommend checking the gov website for further reading.
And yes, trademarks are expensive. You may end up paying more to trademark your comic than to print your first run.
No, I'm not joking.

New Stuff So I got a call yesterday from our prodigal artist, Paul...
We met up today at the library, and he brought a few things he's been working on. He had a few photos with him to show what his character would look like, and I did a Kwik-E-Sketch of it. then we headed over to Kinko's on 5th Street to scan them, and wow did that turn into a mess quickly. Around a half hour for a 5 minute job.

THE "How To" Book I just got "How to Self-Publish Your Own Comic Book: The Complete Resource Guide to the Business, Production, Distribution, Marketing and Promotion of Comic Books
By Tony Caputo". It's a must have. There's a huge section on promotion. For that alone, it's a must have. The rest of the book is just as valuable. I highly recommend it.
It's currently listed at $12.95 (63 cents less than Jan 27th).
List price is $19.95. If you can spare the money, I'd definately recommend getting it!

Yeah Yeah Yeah I posted the cleaned up version of cover #1 on my LJ. I still need to touch it up a bit more and color it. I think it looks pretty sweet. Comments on my LJ welcome.
